My brother just had the some issue with his 2006 jetta, he tried to take the fan controller located on the fan itself apart but things were burnt looking inside so he just ended up buying a new fan.
I would suggest replacing the harness, I have made attempts to solder wires back together and insulate and it failed to fix the problems. I have since replaced the entire driver's door harness on 2 different cars and it takes some time but is not that difficult to do.
Pull out on the handle as you "unscrew" the bolt inside the door end. that bolt rotates a metal piece that kind of locks the handle in the out position making it easier to pull out the lock cylinder and it's trim.
I had the exact same thing happen to me when I was filling my transmission through there. The threads that break off the sensor are not hard to get out with one of the square shaped tapered extractors like these...
Great find! I am getting all the parts together to install these mids in my car as well. Which model number are those adapters? Could you post a direct link to the correct ones?
Thanks
Its good to hear that you finally got your money back. They probably found out the real reason that their business has dropped off was you telling people not to deal with them.
I changed mine at 90k when I changed my clutch and flywheel. May not have been needed yet but there were some metal fines in it (probably from the occasional grindage) so it was nice to know that I got rid of some of that.
I have read that thread and I do already have the "1k6" amp and I'm trying to find the 3C0-035-456-C one in hopes of spending less than $650 for this upgrade.
