Lowering JSW and flushing the wheels...help

If you're unsure of the amount of drop you want, then coilovers would be your best option. I have 17x8 Sparco FF1 wheels with 45mm offset and the 235/45 tires are even with the fenders. Hope this helps.

    New shoes for the daily

Corrected the pics (woops) and Tire Rack shows the wheels are 17.5 lbs each. The Sparco/Kumho combo is noticeably lighter than the Porto's and mismatched tires they replaced.

    New shoes for the daily

So, I bought a 2012 TDI Sportwagen a little over a year ago to replace my MKIV BEW wagon as my daily, and I've always disliked the stock Porto's and mismatch tires (I think the rear tires are from the factory 😳). The only reasonable solution is a new set of wheels and tires, and a late night...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

Ripped out the moldy carpet and under lament, cleaned out the 2+lbs of crap behind the driver wheel liner, found the water leak source, and replaced the injector harness.

Frustrated: Water leak & Driver floor full of water

Thank you for this insight. From what I can tell, the water came down around the dead pedal/kick panel area. I have to replace the broken cowl cover, and will seal this up while it's accessible .

Frustrated: Water leak & Driver floor full of water

Frustrated - My 05 wagon was parked last November, and yesterday I wanted to change the bad injector harness and found water to the door seal on the driver side. I believe the source of the leak is a busted cowl cover in conjunction with a loose firewall grommet. The car has not had shown...

2005 A4 TDI shifting problem when cold

Definitely check to see if the computer is reading the trans temp, without it the trans will shift funky in all gears. With the amount of miles, I presume the 495,000 mentioned is miles and not kilometers, I would change the solenoids and fluid in the transmission. Jake_S

Decision time.. Repair and keep or sell..?

The new solenoids are in. The job wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. Instead of attempting the work from the bottom (and working with limited space) I removed the front (bumper, rebar and core support), and approached the work from the front. This approach made the job less frustrating and I...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

Replaced the shift solenoids yesterday. The joy of autotragics! Jake

Decision time.. Repair and keep or sell..?

I will change the solenoids. For $300 that is worth the gamble. If that doesn't resolve the issue, I will probably look for another car. Jake

Decision time.. Repair and keep or sell..?

The 09A would not shift out of first this morning. Ran a scan with VCDS and came back with 00652 (Gear Monitoring: Implausible Signal). I know most issues with the 09A can be resolved with new solenoids, but from what I read, this fault is not one of them. To repair, my options are: A) Replace...
