Golf 4 tdi, map has 1 wire.

I didn't know that your MAP only having one wire was news we all needed to know about.

    U.S. Comeback?

Note that I was saying 100% of worst-case cruising load, not 100% of electric power. Worst-case cruising load is lower than electric power in almost any BEV.

    U.S. Comeback?

There's a few problems I can see with that powertrain specifically. The big advantage of diesels is that they don't lose much thermal efficiency at light loads, due to the lack of a throttle plate. (The fuel is more volumetrically energy dense, but the need for additional emissions control...

    U.S. Comeback?

OTR hauling has drive time limits that make any range limitations that an EV has completely acceptable. A Tesla Semi with the large battery is rated at 500 miles range, while at 80,000 lbs GCWR. 500 miles at 65 MPH (a guesstimate of the target average speed) is 7h42m. After 8 hours, a driver...

2015 Golf Wagon TDi Rod File?

Today I learned that... frankly I don't even know what this one's about? But whatever it is, that it's news that everyone needs to know about.

    Upgraded TDIClub forums

So it looks like the problem with the TDI News/Tech RSS feed isn't the RSS feed at all - it looks like that subforum isn't in a moderated mode any more. Newbies are posting straight to it, and they're appearing in public view immediately, instead of being held for approval.

    Upgraded TDIClub forums

On mobile, you can just tap on the username: ...also, can things be made so you can just paste an image straight into a post and it automatically goes into the gallery? Other XenForo forums I use support at least attaching media to posts by pasting it in...

    Upgraded TDIClub forums

So looking at one of your posts, the BBcode that got put in looks like this: [/IMG] ...that looks like some really broken syntax, and I'm wondering what was there before, and why it worked before. Remove the and it might just work.

    Upgraded TDIClub forums

One thing I'm noticing: posts (including spam) in the TDI News subforum seem to be making it to the RSS feed for that subforum when a moderator would have never approved them. I don't know if moderator approval isn't working, or if XenForo's RSS is leaking the posts before moderators can...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

So, yes, what I'm talking about is something that - in California (and IIRC a couple other states copied that) - landlords that supply parking are required to allow the tenant to install, at the tenant's expense, for the tenant's use, but that landlords are not required to supply. It's not...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

Oh no, that crap is for the tenant. The law requires the apartment owner to allow installation of EV equipment (the state before that law was passed was that the owner could tell the tenant to **** off and not charge at home at all), but the apartment owner can (isn't required to, but is...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

Agreed fully. California has laws requiring that apartment owners allow installation of charging infrastructure, but they can still require that an engineer study the installation and that the tenant hold a $1 million liability policy on the charging equipment, which massively inflates the...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

40x, not 40%. Or, in other words, 4000%. And yes, it's up to 4000% of the 0.05 g/mi standard they were certified to... which is 2 g/mi. Which is the 1970s standard, IIRC (and IIRC it was reduced to 1 g/mi in the early 1980s, which is where it stayed - in practice, anyway - for diesels until...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

I mean, the WVU tests found results that would've been on par with 1970s diesels on NOx emissions, so... Also, 800 hp engines are old hat. Granted, actually putting them in production cars isn't, but it's really easy to make an 800 hp engine - get enough oxidizer and fuel into an engine -...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

I recall the I-90/I-290 interchange in MA was a total mess with a toll booth in it, and the last time I drove it, IIRC, it might've been even worse without the toll booth, due to everyone remaining at some amount of speed...

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

Of course, also, disconnecting from the grid is a code violation in some places, too. (Although IIRC there is case law against that, but you'd be fighting your municipality in court if they push it.)

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

I thought you were worried about being tied to home and centralized infrastructure. I was giving you the options that removed dependence on external infrastructure (and the EV one let you set up to charge wherever you want, unlike the diesel one that ties you to your homestead). ;)
