    Hissing/leaking EGR cooler fixed!

Did the delete and RocketChip tune, over a year ago, runs great, if you drive it the way you used to pre-tune no mileage hit, might even gain a bit. The thing is you won't drive it the same way, you'll use the power and sacrifice a few mpg and never look back. My only regret is that I didn't...

    Engine/Electrical Issues P0322 fault

Update: Since replacing the G28 sensor my car has gone ~20 driving cycles and 800 miles or so without any hint of the problems that prompted my original post.

    Engine/Electrical Issues P0322 fault

My car is fixed! G28 sensor replaced, no more faults, no more stalling, car runs perfectly. Yes replacing that sensor is a PITA, but it appears to be the cause of all my car's problems.

    Engine/Electrical Issues P0322 fault

Update: G28 just arrived, not yet installed, while waiting I did attempt to pinch, wiggle and manipulate the harness while running. I experienced no strange behavior of any kind. I'm sure it's the harness, I just wish I had some tangible evidence that it is.

    Engine/Electrical Issues P0322 fault

2005 Mk5 Jetta, 5M, ~170,000 miles. Car has been extremely reliable to this point. Driving on the highway last week, without warning the car stalls, glow plug light flashing, low oil pressure indicator, emissions workshop and other stuff. Oil was 1.5 qts low, due for oil change I hadn't...

Any BRM's make it past the 100K mile mark?

101,000 miles on the 2005.5 Just had 4ringking replace: TB, both front wheel bearings, pads/rotors front and rear, and brake fluid flush. Although rear pads were shot, fronts had 40% left. I've only let the dealer do 2 things: replace the cluster ~30k when the speedo failed (under warranty) and...

30K and my Conti's are DONE!

My Jetta is at 59,500 and I never rotated my tires, but I run them at 41-43 PSI and my tires have worn very evenly. The fronts are done, 1mm to wear bars, but the rears have at least 5mm of tread left. Overall I have been very pleased with the Conti ProContacts and am getting a new pair for...

30K and my Conti's are DONE!

51,000 on my original Contis and no issues/problems, I like the tire. I run them at 40-43psi and I've never rotated them. I may replace them in the fall depending on how much tread is left, but they still look good.

    ELF & Motul 506.01 Acceptance in 1.9L PD's

I disagree, there would be no legally sustainable basis for VW to deny a warranty claim because you used 506.01 without personally receiving a letter and approve the claim for another using 506.01 with a letter. It's either suitable or it's not, if suitable for one then suitable for all.

Seriously...Fuel capacity Jetta 2005.5 fuel Tank????

You should be aware that running your fuel tank dry is not a great idea and my shorten the life of you fuel pump, which is cooled by the fuel it pumps.

How often do you change your wiper blades?

I've got ~45k accumulated in 1.5 years with the same set of wipers, which still work great. I love rain-x washer fluid and have been using it for the last 6-8 months.

    Best year of TDI

I would take the 2005.5 A5 Jetta, economy with the 5M is very good and overall reliability is probably higher than any of the previous generations.

2006 Jetta TDI Auto vs Man

I think the DSG is a great invention, I prefer the manual. Regardless of the EPA numbers I think its clear that the manual returns higher MPG. All you need to do is examine the monthly fuel mileage contests. They clearly show that the 5M beats the DSG in the A5 consistently and convincingly. My...

    Effects of burning fossil fuels:

Your analogy is what is so wrong with this "debate" as it grossly overstates the threat. I reject the "walking towards a cliff" analogy, which makes it sound like the danger is imminent when it isn't. Instead of a cliff it's more like a long gradual slope and one that I'm still many miles away...

    Effects of burning fossil fuels:

I would be strongly opposed to anything created, imposed, managed, or controlled by the UN. I would in fact be so opposed that I would actually campaign for any politician that was also against it. As I always say, US out of the UN, UN out of the US. I have no interest in the US trying to save...
