oh dang. i'm not too versed on headlights, especially HID's. but that's unfortunate if that's the case.
i was hoping to steer the OP away from the Helix-made lights since there have been a number of complaints about the build quality and design. mostly condensation and fogging inside the...
looks like they need manual adjustments, since they're not auto-leveling. other users have posted output pictures in the thread i linked earlier. the beam angles are hand-adjustable i believe.
do you have the lighting package equipped? if not, these have much better reviews than the Helix lights. they only work if you do not have the lighting package.

i liked it :(
but in all seriousness i passed a slowpoke on memorial drive going 25 and the tsi gave me an unexpected punch in the chest until i hit 60 and realized i shouldn't get pulled over in a zipcar :p
very cool. i especially relate to you, thunderstruck. i like to believe the first car i own will be a diesel. but for now, between mostly city driving, public transit M-F, and a lease... i'll go with the TSI. goodbye for now tdi club :(
hmm... most likely wouldn't buy after the lease. there's a lease special at a dealer near me for $139/month, 36months, 10k/year, $3k down. i did the calculations and after taxes i think it comes to around $7k. not too too bad. but the tsi lease is $129/month i think.
it's kind of a problem that...
i'm having the same dilemma going back and forth between a tsi lease and a tdi lease next year :(
i would probably do less than 10k a year, but would like to take weekend trips. also with probably 80% city driving i feel like i'd be butchering a tdi's break-in period... and i can't live with...
i would give these headlights a look - they don't have any reported fogging issues and have a couple advantages over the helix bulbs.

agreed with the logic there. the way i see it (most likely an uninformed view), if they are touting a modular platform, how could it not be easier to add lighting/heating packages to the s trim? all i see is inconsideration for the buyer.
