A quick follow up to my original post.
I went ahead and purchased the DEPO halogen projector ecode headlights.
I looked over my old housings and the wiring has cracked and I already had to epoxy an aiming screw.
I could get replacement internal wire harnesses but it is not clear how to...
I experienced the same issue with voltages but the problem turned out to be a failed compressor clutch. I initially replace just the clutch myself with one from eBay, that lasted about a year, the second time it failed i had the shop replacing my heater core replace the entire compressor.
I am about the replace a leaking axle flange seal.
Searching around I noticed what appears to be a special VW grease, G055128A1, for the flange seal.
Do I need that grease on the seal surface when replacing the seal?
Or will any good grease or VW cv joint grease work?
Thanks.
I was looking closer at the pictures on the ebay page for those DEPO ecodes; looks like there are no covers on the back of the housing. Can the old cover be reused? I see ty-wraps in there one looks like is goes around aiming screw. I hope that it is not part of the aiming adjustment...
I was getting ready to order the replacement internal harness when I noticed the cracked lens.
With all wrong now I was looking into improvements to the headlight performance,
so that is why I was thinking ecodes.
I have the factory lights and a euro switch. Replaced the plastic lenses with glass about 10 years ago.
The internal wires in the headlights and cracking and some of the plastic covers are broken.
Just found a glass lens cracked.
So, for my Jetta's 200,000th mile I would like to replace the...
I need to replace the sensor; I see where the sensor is and the cover for the connector box.
The sensor wire disappears behind a shield.
Does the shield need to be removed in order to remove the wire?
Thanks for the help!
My Jetta threw the following code:

P2196 - 000 - Signal too High (Rich) - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
RPM: 1722 /min
Torque: 0.0 Nm

Over the past few months I have noticed about a 200 RPM from from idle when in neutral (manual trans) and the high speed fans turn on.
It has become more frequent not that very weather is here.
About three times in the past week the RPM drops and caused some dash lights to come one and audio...
The low speed fuse is good. The fan spins freely, was running very slowly and did not shut off when I turned the engine off.
If the fan controller relay based or sold state? I am thinking the low speed contacts are stuck on in the controller.
AC just started to fail when waiting at traffic lights today, it was about 95 F outside.
I suspected a cooling fan. Checked when I got home and found the large fan not turning.
I gave it a spin and it ran slowly. So I shut down the engine knowing I would have a fan replacement project this...
While working on the Jetta today I noticed the bolt securing the intake duct to the top of the intake manifold is missing
Anyone know the thread size and bolt length?
Thanks!
I had a picture around somewhere, can't find it. the water exits are only visible when the bumper skin is off. I had the car on enough of an incline to drain only to the rear. I also used a small watering can to direct water to the read drains.
I had the rear bumper cover off my Mk4 wagon and poured water in the sunroof tray, then went to each rear drain outlet and squeezed them. That opened up the seal and allowed lots of debris and water to flow out.
More leak info
I have also been chasing leaks in my Jetta. it has been a constant battle.
I hope you don't mind adding my troubles to this thread.
I repaired the seal at the bottom of the window regulator/lock carrier on the front drivers door. The drain hole look ok. The bottom rubber...
