Tire psi was up to spec but I bumped up by 5 psi each to see if there's any improvement in MPG. More than anything else, I'm thinking the tires are the culprit and now bummed that I have to go the next 40K miles with such a drastic hit in fuel economy. I specifically chose tires of the same size...
Your comment about tires reminded me that I did finally replace the OEM tires with Continental DWS06 of the same size not too long ago. Hmm. In fact, things did start going downhill around that time. That would be a drastic change in mpg for a set of tires. Likewise, tire pressure so low as to...
My '15 GSW TDI has recently "tanked" in gas mileage. I've tracked every fill-up since I bought the car in 2017 via Fuelly calculating actual miles driven vs gallons put in. I'm now at about 43K miles. Although the car's fuel computer has always been a little optimistic, I know what mpg it will...
I don't see any mention of coolant flush/change in my maintenance manual. Is this stuff good for the life of the car? Seems kind of strange since every car I owned before this one recommended coolant flush every 30K miles. I just ordered a frost heater and was going to have my mechanic install...
Ah, OK, I thought you were talking about an SD card rate. The songs are anywhere from 120K-320K. I notice some play at a louder volume than others, presumably the higher quality songs. Perhaps I should dumb them all down to a lower rate and reload? Not sure how to do that. As you can see, I'm a...
Hmm. So the VW SD drive may have to "load" 800 songs every trip? If so, I can see why it never gets beyond "P" in alphabetical order since you'd likely have to be on a long trip to get everything loaded up. If true, that seems like a pretty stupid system.
The car's manual states that the SD card can only handle 1,000 files. So I put about 800 of my favorite songs on an SD card and started listening in my '15 GSW. In shuffle mode, I noticed that I was getting an annoying amount of repeat songs for a source with 800+ files. Then I noticed that it...
Thanks for the (detailed) pics. I guess the battery is too big for the OEM battery blanket? I guess that's not a big deal as I've never had a car that had a blanket til now.
Turbobrick240's video link worked. My battery is September '15. I also think I'll get one of those little jumpers. That way I can still sleep after I leave my car in a freezing parking lot at the airport.
michTDI, thanks for that info. It's encouraging to know that my batt MAY have been replaced in 2017 rather than be original. I'm going to have it tested to get a better idea of its condition. I just never trust these guys when they say it "failed" and I don't get to see the actual test.
Bizzle...
I was told, CPO warranty doesn't cover battery. No date sticker on top of battery either. I haven't pulled it out of the pouch to inspect the sides or bottom though. So far, it's been starting OK in cold weather. I may milk it until next winter and replace then. Perhaps, dealership will put a...
I bought my car in late 2017 as a CPO with about 8,000 miles on it. (I presume it sat around during the dieselgate scandal given its low mileage.) Best I can tell, it has the original battery, which is an Enertec 5K0 915 105 E. Is this the OEM battery? If so, how long is it good for?
I'm at 5...
Thanks for all the tips, fellas. Monday I bought a very nicely kept, certified 2015 Cayenne Diesel with about 35K miles on it. Bumper-bumper warranty til April 2021. I'd love to post a pic of it, but I can't see how to do that on this forum.
Anyway, I've never driven a Porsche before and WOW...
I hope you're right cause I haven't used any snake oil in my '15 GSW. My brother uses additive in his '99 Jetta TDI and a Duramax truck but he does it in bulk in a 500-gallon tank and because his engines are older.
My question is how do you check if there's water in your fuel? I would like to...
As my search continues for the wife's Q5 TDI or Cayenne Diesel, I stumbled upon a Cayenne E-Hybrid. At first I didn't like the idea until I found out that it's a plug-in Hybrid and actually can drive about 15 miles on electric only. It also loses about 45 percent of its value in 2 years. I'm...
