Any name or link to the Steel ones?
I have only seen Aluminum and heard that if they dent even a little the vibration over time from the dent pressing can wear a hole in the pan.
Steel would be less easily dented for sure.
I'm thinking about a small lift. How significant is the drop in milage?
Also, found this spacer lift kit which should be much cheaper than springs.

Any thoughts?

No. Would a core heater failing cause the fuse to blow? The guys that checked this are TDI guys, so hopefully they checked the core heater itself.
I will ask them which fuse it is and see if it's blown again.
I've had very weak heat,(just blows warm) for the past year. When I brought it in for my 50k service this week I asked them to diagnose. They said it was the fuse for the preheater. They replaced it. heat worked for one 3 hour drive and again the next day for another 4 hour drive. Then next...
Yes. The problem is happening after I'm at running temp.
Thanks! Cabin filter was changed in the last 2k miles. The fan may never have been as strong as other cars. Fan does seem weak though and the heat used to come out hot, that i know. Now there is some heat to it but not enough to get...
Thanks! Did you get a notification on the screen that told you?
Hows did you diagnose it?
I will check the AC- i don't really use it much. Fan does seem weaker than it should be.
I have only 42K on it. The heat suddenly is just barely warm when all the way in the red.
I wait till it's warmed up and even with the temp needle in the middle still no heat that really does anything.
Blower is working but isn't very strong. ( I don't remember if it ever was, but the heat used...
Thanks guys!
Sounds like it's just handling on tight corners that sees any benefit and maybe only on dry days?
I guess I'll look for someone who wants these 17's and just get new tires on my stock wheels.
Thank you both!
So if I'm not gaining clearance, what would be the benefit of swapping them? My friend seemed to think it would be an upgrade, but now I'm not so sure.
My 2015 Sportwagen is getting me a mid 40's average MPG. Way better than the 2010 I turned in for buyback.
I was recently given 17" mag Wheels from a friend who had them on his Sportwagen but switched to the stock wheels before selling it..
If I change them out, how much of a hit in MPG should...
I did leave a message for Matt with Greg last week. Just emailed him now. Hopefully he'll get back soon as it's a couple hundred miles away now. He did my 10 and 20K services. The last one i was out of state.
Thanks. I called Matt 2 weeks ago and then again last week. He just be really busy. Glad I saw thread again and that the owner also works on TDIs. I'll try Greg.
Looking for a recommendation for a TDI Mechanic in Sonoma county CA, or nearby.
I looked at the TDI Guru list and the closest on there is down in the East Bay.
I just need my 40k service done and don't want to pay dealer prices.
Thanks!
Yeah, the light was off when i drove today! Lately i haven't been driving much. Probably drove under 7 mi when it came on the other day.
I thought the re-gen could finish on it's own w/ out having to drive during them.
Thanks for all the replies!
I'm not much of a DIY guy when it comes to modern cars.
Now that i got a couple good alternatives to the dealer my DPF light just went on!
Since i'm under warranty i'll probably have to go into them for this reason but still get the service elsewhere.
Just said...
Would be good to have someone up there as well since i'm in Southern O a lot. I'd appreciate his contact.
Probably i'll get this done with Matt or Greg down here.
Greg @ Autohuas quoted $375 w/ out the tire rotation $400 with it.
I'm hoping matt's quote will be a little less.
