I realized it wasn't a switch years ago when I tried to jump it to get to compressor on. Either way could have been a bad terminal connection in the switch (sensor) or an oxidized contact that needed a little help. I had another issue with the expansion valve. Twenty five year old cars need a...
I had my pressure switch stick after replacing the condenser. The switch was on, neither fan would run and the compressor clutch would not engage. I put in about 12 oz but wouldn't take any more. One tap of the switch and the compressor clutch engaged and the fans turned on.
I also had a cheap...
My first 2003 TDI got a used 5 speed after the original 5 gear failed. Two years ago it had stripped the teeth off of the shaft. I welded it back on and it worked for 30k, just shy of 2 years. I put a used one in from a silver Golf I picked up at the auction a few years ago. It belonged to a...
There are a few that may make the trip up north. It would be a risk. We fired one up last Saturday we were hoping to drive a couple hundred miles. The waterpump was leaking pretty bad. The leak didn't even slow down after it warmed up. Even if they didn't leak, the belts are old the tires are...

If you see the list above and want more pics, let me know.
A few of these cars have good titles, some rebuilt titles and some have salvage titles. If it's on the list, $500. I hate to see the scrapman get them. If you see a mk3 in the background they are going too.

These few pics don't serve well. I will do better. But these are some of the non ALH diesels and there are a few of these as well. There are 2 mkIV gas models that had a tag on them last year. I will try and list the complete...
Go back and put the rig pin in the shifter tower and shift lever. Loosen the adjusters on the cables. Make sure you push the slack out of the cables before locking them. It sounds like you are just a bit out. If that doesn't make it better, pull the slack out of the cables before locking them.
I'm not much for posting items for sale. I usually just keep everything.
That being said, I know the cars. I know Jesse and I knew the uncle, RIP. He was my good friend and we tinkered TDI's more specifically, ALH. I offered to help, since I will be taking photos for the family.
Resealed the valve cover and changed the oil today. Found the driveshaft heat shield missing. Installed another one from the spare pile. Filled the EGR vent holes with rtv. At 395k, the cam looked perfect.
I think the first year bew had some of the cam issues. Still a good motor, but fuel economy dropped. My roommate at the time had an alh and traded it in for an 04 tdi. He had a few émission problems and power issues. It was taken care of in warranty. He said he missed the ALH. Then he picked...
You are correct, they are junk. Surging, slipping among other things. The valve body could solve some things if you don't break the ribbon cable. You can replace that too. I have two that slip, one locked up and one that is waiting to fail. Oh and one on the bench for practice.
