I also inserted a wooden wedge between the dash supports and the heater box to apply force aganst the heater box to stop the rattle. I also added a ty wrap to better position the heater pipes so they don't contact the car body under the hood. Good luck. I spent many hours to stop the rattle. I...
Common problem, replace the compressor control valve. The dealer would have you replace the whole compressor but replacing the valve will solve the problem. Only problem is that you will have to have the system evacuated by a professional with special equipment. The compressor turns all the time...
Badly rusted 2003 Jetta Wagon. Engine runs but needs a timing belt kit. loud screeching from the timing components and missing teeth on the belt. No valve damage yet. Good manual transmission and new clutch. It's not worth fixing since the body is so rusted, but someone might want to buy it for...
2015
I have a 2015 and would recommend it. It gets 50 MPG on the highway at 70 MPH with a DSG. Hand calculated. The only problems I have had was with the seat belt height adjuster and a rattle under the dash. Both fixed.
13 Years
I joined the forum 13 years ago. Driving my 3rd TDI.
2002 Jetta TDI Automatic
2009 Jetta TDI Manual
2015 Jetta TDI DSG
The 2015 is by far the best one:
Best fuel mileage.
Best acceleration.
Best deal.
Best reliability so far.
I been to 3 TDI fests.
I found the heater box screw to be loose and it would not tighten. The replacement screw part WHT004564 has a larger diameter and fit tightly. The clamp inside the car was contacting the heater box which I rotated.
Hidden Screw
The screw is located between ths two lines at the firewall. I needed a mirror and a light to find it. Its very difficult to see. If its fallen out there will be a screw hole there.
Fixed, Thank You

Lots of torque and power
All I have to compare it to is my sold back 09 manual. The 2015 with DSG outperforms it in every way. Acceleration, hill climbing and fuel economy. The torque reminds me of the old V8 muscle cars of the 60's!
2002 Jetta Auto that I sold because people on this forum said the O1M automatic was not reliable but the guy that bought it is still driving it 7 years later and never had a transmission problem.
2009 Jetta Manual sold back to VW because the price was right and it had 110000 miles and 3 bent...
Update
Volkswagen announced today that it would replace all HP Fuel Pumps on all TDI vehicles manufactured since 2009 with an improved design. A VW spokesperson said that Customer Satisfaction was well worth the estimated cost to VW of $2,000,000,000.
I agree
I had a 2002 TDI with an automatic transmission. Because of this forum I was convinced that my transmission was about fail. So I sold the car with 98000 miles on it. I recently met the person I sold it too and she now has over 250000 miles on it and the transmission is still fine. I...
