Ok, got my first .... "This is a Diesel?"

Had to take a co-worker on a trip to another site. He has heard that I got a TDI in 04 (PD-05) and that I've been very happy with the milage. I even tried to recomend the Pasat TDI for his family back in 04, but he got a mini van instead. So I said let's take my car. He wasn't too pleased...

    Is it worth

56K miles on 2005 TDI Golf. It only saw the Dealer lot once since I drove it off the first time, and that was to have them install the License plates :D . I have done all the Oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter changes and I don't find that any of that was much more $$ than what I would...

Crash Test results?? is this honest.

I was reading CNN.com, they mention that the Prius got a top 3 standing in the crash test results... yet it has serious problems also according to the test. So is this a biased test, that ignores key safety issues and subsequently moves a better car off the list (VW Jetta, Golf)...

Quote The German press has speculated that a Dodge small car could be built at VW’s Puebla, Mexico plant, alongside a Polo sedan that VW is considering building there for the US market. end Quote. If VW builds a POLO for the US market, I'd buy IT over anything built for Dodge/Chrysler...

If it turns out to be glow plugs. They are easy to change, so no worries, you hubbie will have no problem replacing them. However the error codes are the devil in the details, so as others have mentioned, have your hubbie down load them and either post them here for the conversion or if he has...

    PD oil consumption

Probably no damage, I have to check mine every 5K miles as even with 45K+ miles it still "uses" (burns, blows through recirculation from head to intake) oil. I add 1/2 quart 2 times durring the 10K oil change interval to keep it all in the checked area on the dip stick. I haven't opened up...

    Effect of winter diesel

Try taking the Milage #'s from the Monthly milage post and average it against the Median total miles traveled/month then chart the results. I think that the # miles traveled per month are somehow affecting the results. There should be over a years worth of data that you should be able to use...
