Figured I would try to reseat the cluster to see if that did anything. Either the car warmed up with the recent break in the weather, or I went to remove the trim piece on top of the steering wheel, and notice the odo and clock were working again. Just by removing that plastic trim piece? No...
Foolishly I didn't take a reading after the charge. I rolled the key over a few times, and then tried starting it. It showed 12.30 a little while later. While the battery might be dead, I tried both with a good battery, and jumping it from another car, and still shows no cluster lights except...
No scan gauge, or vcds near me.
The other thread i posted ended needing to change the gauge cluster to fix the same symptoms as I have, but I didn't think that would be common. Apparently it is, and it sounds like that's what it's going to need.
Thanks so much for the help!
Yea, locks, fans, hazards all seem to come on and work.
I had it jumped to another car. Let the other car stay running for a few minutes before trying anything, and still just the battery light.
Yea this is the closest I could find while searching for an answer, but it isn't much of one.... http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=429443
Seems like an immo problem, but with no lights at all on the cluster (besides battery) it's hard to tell. Hard it on an actual charger instead of a...
Yea i have a spare MAF, unfortunately no 109 since I haven't had any issues until now.
With not being able to just go buy a vw 109 I definitely get having a spare on hand now. I just needed the car out of the driveway.
Thanks for the help!
No lights come on except for the battery light which is constant when the key is turned/not starting.
Would the 109 going out allow the vehicle to start still?
Also looks like you can't buy the 109 relay through parts stores. Seems odd.
As the title says, i have no dash lights/clock/odo, but the battery light will stay on.
Battery shows 12.06v so charged it over night. Turned the key same issue.
Can't get the battery out because the 13mm bolt just spins. I've tried a prybar and turning the bolt, but got no where.
I hooked...
Providing there is a shop only open on weekends and holidays when I am home to have access to my garage and tools. This is also my primary means of transportation. There's no doubt having a shop press them out would have been cheaper, just not one nearby that I know of that's open when I'm back...
I finally got to fixing my wheel bearing. I decided to go the loaded knuckle route, since I didn't know how long I'd have, and pretty sure there isn't a shop around to press out/in bearings.
After finding that the tie rod would loosen, I cut it off and replaced. Trying to remove it took far...
Thanks for all the replies!
I'm guessing I'll go the shop route. I can't imagine getting back home until thanksgiving time frame.
Although the knuckle replacement was something I wondered about, I didn't think you'd just be able to order them up at a local parts store. It sounds more manageable...
It sounds like I'm due for a wheel bearing replacement. You can hear it most of the time, and feel it in the steering wheel. Turning left the noise stays while turning right the noise goes away.
From what I've read on here that method isn't the best way to determine which has failed. So can I...
I have the still brake pedal, but only in reverse. I do have cracks in the line this one. Just wanted to double check with you guys, since this isn't the low/sinking pedal. Is there something else I can check with no vacuum gauge?
Again I really use this as more of an excuse to sell, although I really do just look at them as a means of travel at this point. I used to love cars. My first 2 were older Buicks. While it was an "old mans" car to me, it was always a comfortable and enjoyable ride, and add it there was the same...
I don't think I would want to live there any more than I did (I moved back to NY permanently) but for a even 2 weeks at a time, it really is a nice place. Fairly quiet, lots of scenery, and while I didn't like the hills so much getting acclimated to my road bike, it was overall a nice place.
Yea I completely understand diesels. I worked at a test facility testing various engines with the "then new" DPF's, testing them to the extremes, so gained a lot of knowledge on them and hence why I purchased the TDI after I left there. Even though by far the VW engine we had seemed to be the...
Bought the car 09/2010 after leaving my job that had me driving 100-110 miles a day to move across country to Arizona for a job. Right after purchasing the car, I got a call from the job saying they were going with a local. Fast forward to now, a little over 2.5 years have passed and I've added...
