I just bought one of the Gen1 buybacks this weekend, and it's a '14 JSW manual. I'd never driven one of the newer ones previously, but after the fix, and I know it at least still has more power than my ALH Wagon with RC2!

I appreciate the advice. I did know that it's possible to do this with VDS Pro, but I don't have a laptop or cable with a serial port, and I hear you want to be VERY careful when using that program. However, if somebody attending the GTG is familiar with VDS Pro, maybe they could help me.
