About the rust around the fuel filler pipe/neck. It's been awhile, but might be worth a look. On my old A3 Jetta TDI, I kept getting information on a recall campaign to have some type of shield installed to prevent rust in the area I believe you are referring to. Bought that car new and got...
I did many oil changes during my 488k mile relationship with the TDI.
Tried an electric version of the top sider oil extractor and didnt seem to have as good of a result as with the OM603 on my MB 300SDL.
Bought a 3" long bolt with a thread pattern that the filter could screw on to.
Using...

I have a pair of smoked euro headlights for the A3 Jettas. Brand is DJ Auto. They are in decent shape and come with brackets and wiring adapter/converters. The lenses have been covered with Lexan silicone protective sheets from...
Parts for A3/B4 TDI's
Ok fellow older TDI'ers, I totalled my 98 Jetta awhile back with just shy of 500,000 miles on it. I'm cleaning out the lockers in my garage and found some leftover parts. Just email or text me if you'd like more information or pictures of what is available. If the...

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. -- Two New York residents are accused of trying to steal used cooking oil from a New Jersey restaurant.
Police said they caught Youngil Kim and Byung Ho Choi sucking 700 gallons of grease from two storage tanks behind a...
x2 on Frank's work. I'm coming up on 100k mi on a head/ring/bearing job he did on my A3 Jetta. It's never missed a beat, not to mention he's a top notch guy.
A bump for Franko6. He worked some real magic on my tired A3 Jetta TDI. Top quality work at a very fair price. I've put on 20k miles since the rebuild with no concerns or complaints whatsoever.
If it's what I'm thinking of, they are a fleet from an alarm company that services the Chicago suburbs.
I see their cars frequently...next time, I'll make note of their name.
This is definitely true. Right now, one would be hard pressed to tell that my odometer reading is anything but actual. Mine rolled from 299,999 to 0 and the word TOTAL disappeared I think last February.
Currently it's showing about 60,000 miles...but TOTAL is missing ;-) The leather has...
350k+ miles on my original top end. Gradually seeing some oil consumption (need to add about a pint of oil every 2500 miles) and some smoke after taking off from excessive idle time.
i've been kicking around the idea of having something done, but with no smoke unless the car has idled for...
I'd hate to jinx myself and say thing TOO promising :-)
I know that it runs and drives better than ever. I have an oil analysis done about every 3rd oil change and nothing is any different now than it has been.
It runs like a scalded dog and I have some decent shifter action back now. First...

I like the SDL a whole lot. I've had it several years and IIRC, it has about 330k mi now. About 165k of those are miles I racked up. Those miles have not been inexpensive though. During my ownership, there have been a fair share of couple-thousand-dollar repairs needed.
Actually...
Just shy of 340,000 miles now.
It's been chipped/modded most of that time.
Extremely reliable with the exception of needing a new clutch around 200k and having to replace the power window regulators on a regular basis. All major components are still original and untouched.
The stock clutch...
