    3rd Brake light 2010 Sportwagen

Most interesting. Out of curiosity, was the other car's third brake light also accessible from the outside of the car (not the more awkward accessibility of a third brake light mounted on the rear deck/within the rear window)?

Why wouldn't the part still be under warranty? Too many miles on the car?

    Anyone use Nokian Snow Tires?

I've used "Hakkas" and other Nokian tires since the late 80s. Best tires for snow and Ice, imho. I've got the snows on the Jetta in the winter and the all season on the allroad year round.

MkV / MkVI Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010)

With my Hi-line MFD, I do see the telephone number (or name of the incoming caller if I've associated the phone number with a phonebook named entry). The same info shows in the RNS510 automatically because its display changes to the phone menu upon receipt of an incoming call.

MkV / MkVI Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010)

The only noticeable bug I have with the 9W7 (with a high-line MFD installed, too) is that the pronunciation of some words is odd. For example, the word "phonebook" is pronounced as "phone-a-book". In fact, I have to pronounce it as "phon-a-book" sometimes to get the system to respond to my voice...

MkV / MkVI Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010)

Agreed. My guess is that the hardware cost difference is only a few pennies between the 9W7 and the new upgrade BT module. It has got to be primarily a software modification. In fact, since the 9W7 was already a product prior to the upgrade BT module, my guess is that VW spent more money...

MkV / MkVI Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010)

That's what I hoped you meant. The way you worded your earlier email made me wonder if you HAD the phone book prior to the upgrade, but now you've lost it.

MkV / MkVI Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010)

I gather you mean that you miss a visual phonebook which you've never had, and now wish you've had all along???? When speaking the word, "HOME", try emphasizing the "m" consonant. The system hears our typical pronunciation of "home" as "Hom" with almost no "m" sound. I say, "HOME"...

I thought it might be interesting to post a synopsis of the BT upgrade from gmcjetpilot in another thread:

If you have a "low-line" small screen MFD, it is not capable of displaying anything other than what you have always seen. Please read this post: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5072646-Swapping-in-MFSW-with-paddles&p=68258183&viewfull=1#post68258183

Does your MFD presently show a overhead line drawing view of the car when a door is open? If so, then you must have a "high-line" MFD and the MFD should show the phonebook. The presence or absence of the RCD-510 in the car is irrelevant as the 9W7 and MFD can communicate via the CANbus directly.

Keep in mind that VW disabled the overhead BT LED light in all vehicles as of 2011. They had received many complaints that the LED light was a distraction. For some people the light reflected in the rear view mirror when the mirror was tilted up for night driving.

Might I ask a simple question? Does your Golf have a module of any sort under the right seat? Is there a black Styrofoam thin box Velcro'd to the carpeting there. Or is it a hard plastic or metal enclosure? Or none at all?

You now get voice dialing. That is what the entire settlement was about.

Just to be clear... The "PR Code" 9W7 is a three character code which describes an option your car has. It's not a part number. To have a 9W7 option requires appropriate wiring, a microphone, applicable control switches, and a properly coded Bluetooth module (and a speaker which is probably...
