I was told by my dealer that we're allowed to use Stanadyne, but they didn't say anything about it being approved. I mentioned that I use Optilube and they said it was ok BUT if it caused any issues with my engine my warranty would be voided.
So...not trying to scare you if you DO have a...
Not nearly as most here apparently!
First off my dad had a mercedes turbo diesel that started my love of all things diesel.
69 Beetle convertabile, restored, that my dad gave me as a birthday present when I went off to college. It's still in the family. I ended up giving it back to him...
Okay so thinking on what Bob_fout said, is the DSG then keeping the car in lower gears as long as possible and not shifting fast enough for what I'm demanding?
The dealer also told me when I talked to them that it might be turbo lag, but I'd think that's what's happening when the car is starting out. Not when I'm pushing all the way down on the pedal.
I can usually hear it when it's regen though, or smell it. I haven't noticed it being in regen when this happens. The car is still under warranty - should I make a suggestion to them to look at something? It's in the shop right now for a malfunctioning gas door.
So I've got about 12k on my new TDI (yes I know it's still a baby) and I've noticed it has little to no oomph compared to my older beetle. With the big when I put the foot down it would GO without hesitation. With the Golf I start out good from a stop, accelerate well and can take off pretty...
So I took my new TDI on a trip to TN this past week. I usually pull about 38mpg city on my daily run as I heavily depend on my car for my job everyday. I know this as I use a MPG calculator that calculates by tank on my phone.
I was pleasantly surprised to pull a 52mpg tank all the way there...
Unfortunately either I don't see a lot in my area, or because we have so many cars on the road in the DC area there are just not enough to go around. I see one here and there, that or I'm not looking hard enough. Not every station has a diesel pump (or good diesel, most around here are 40)...
You wouldn't believe how many "Honey, you DO know you're filling up with diesel right?" lines I get. I have the TDIClub frames on there and a diesel chick sticker, you'd think someone would pay attention. But I get it nearly every time. It's fun at times to educate, other times it can be...
So filling up today the attendant actually pulled the handle out of my hand while putting it into the car (he was cleaning out the trash can next to me) telling me that I was wrong and adamant about me not putting diesel into my car until I showed him the cap. He didn't even apologize and...
BTW bad on me for using cruise control at all during the break in period I just realized thinking about it. But that's an issue for another time. I'm still under 900 miles so it's not too late.
I'm glad to hear this is normal though, I'm not so freaked out about as I was. My husband's first...
I haven't turned the cruise control on since I"ve had the car (the first time I turned it on was this saturday on a trip to WV). It was happening as I was going downhill with my foot off the brake as I tend to hypermile and have done that as a habit ever since having my bug, I even did it with...
I've only encountered a truck size nozzle at a back woods gas station when I was traveling in SC off the beltway. That was fun <enter sarcasm here>. With the bug though it was easier I just had to listen really careful for foaming and do it at 1/3 pressure. I don't know what I'd do with the...
At the Total Wine on Bland street, parked right next to me. Nice car, wish I hadn't missed you. Would have loved to compliment you on the car.
I seem to see a lot more TDI's in springfield then anywhere else. Was in Woodbridge (I know Car54 is there)on Saturday and hardly saw any Stafford...
I was filling up at my local Shell today when a guy rounded the corner and said "Honey, you know you're filling up with diesel right?" I just pointed to the cap where it says DIESEL loud and clear and smiled. He just stood there for a second and was like. "Oh...sorry ma'am." and left.
I...
I'm used to not putting my foot on the brake when going downhill to increase MPG, unless this is something not needed with the DSG. Would this be what's called engine braking? Or is that not something with the DSG and only manuals/older TDI's.
I've noticed that the car tends to rev really high (around 3-3.5RPM) when on a downward hill whether my foot is on the brake or not. I'm assuming this isn't normal, it's only got 700 miles on it and literally less then 2 weeks old. Any advice?
When it was 10 degrees here I was getting crap for MPG, around 25MPG city, 35hwy. Now that it's warmed up to 60 I'm getting an average of 35 city, 45hwy. Mind you this is on a brand new 2014 that's not broken in yet and I only have 700 miles on the car. I remember with my bug and Snowmaggedon...
Anyone have these, have had good luck with these? I had them on my CC and had absolutely no problems with them. I liked them because they had the sealant in them that sucked up as soon as something penetrated them, and went a good 60k on them before having to change them out. They gave me...
