Is the MK6 CR TDI still a reliable high mileage daily?

Golf R folks are all telling me to stop being a baby and just drive the R :).

Is the MK6 CR TDI still a reliable high mileage daily?

Yah I think there was something not quite right with mine. The vibration through the wheel and shifter was more than it should have been, but no mechanic I took it to could figure out why (or would actually acknowledge it was a problem). It was not my first ALH so I knew it wasn't right...

Is the MK6 CR TDI still a reliable high mileage daily?

Thanks for the reply. I had a lovely Reflex Silver 2003 5sp wagon that I let go because it was starting to rust. I detest rust with a passion. I don't regret selling it as it was a bit of a vibrating tractor to drive long miles in every day, but it was an absolute superstar from a reliability...

Is the MK6 CR TDI still a reliable high mileage daily?

My commuting situation is about to change so I will be doing about 21000 miles/year (mostly highway). I don't like the idea of driving my new Golf R into the ground so I was thinking of buying a 2013/14 Golf Wagon (TDI) as a daily commuter. Around me they are going for around CAD$10K with...

Base steering wheel and airbag off my (now sold to a fellow member) 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon. Was only used for about 130K before I replaced it with a leather wheel that I had. No marks or blemishes, pretty much looks like new. Located in Whitby. $40 TDIClub price...

As I showed ss04vv when he picked it up, the timing belt was done in late 2014. So we're 7.5 years in. Everything looks brand new in there and sounds like a dream. I would have no issue leaving it for another year while keeping an eye/ear on it (as was my plan before deciding to sell). It has...

Can the wagon hatch be repaired? And how to keep it from getting worse?

My hatch is just showing the very slightest rust at those hot corners that always rust. Small enough that you have to get up close and look in that groove where the window weather stripping meets the metal, but it's definitely starting. As the title states, I'm wondering if there is any point in...

Do all 2013 Golf Wagons have Bluetooth?

Thanks for that. I was wondering about retrofitting but I wasn't sure about the microphone and steering wheel controls.

Do all 2013 Golf Wagons have Bluetooth?

Sorry for the dumb questions. I'm in the market and found a well-prices/good looking car but the owner says it does not have Bluetooth. This surprised me as I thought all the audio options had BT by 2013. It's too far of a drive for me to check out casually so I thought I'd check on with the...

    Identify these rims?

That is by far the greater evil than "rims" :)

Grabby clutch that's worse on warmer days than cool days. Flywheel hot spots?

I'm sure the friction changes over the heat range, but if it's designed to get grabby and engage rough then that would be a pretty poor design choice.

    Rim Identification

I grew up calling them "rims" Nothing to do with "ghetto slang", just what we called them. I guess that was technically incorrect in that only the outer portion that the tire is mounted on is called the rim, but it's a hard habit to break.

Grabby clutch that's worse on warmer days than cool days. Flywheel hot spots?

I would guess the cracked pressure plate would not have a temperature dependence.

Grabby clutch that's worse on warmer days than cool days. Flywheel hot spots?

My ALH is Malone Stage 2 with DTP 520 injectors. I have an IDParts Quiet Clutch kit installed (~ 3yrs and about 50K kms ago) and it holds the power no problem. However the engagement is often rough as I am releasing the pedal and the engine is taking on the load of the vehicle. But it doesn't...

    Clean or replace VNT15?

Is that a "yes"? To be fair to myself, I've had this thoroughly checked out by a VW mechanic and he was the one suggesting that this was a turbo issue. I'm glad I started poking around myself before jumping off the turbo cliff if indeed the MAF cleaning has solved the problem.

Will diesel cars depreciate horribly from here on in?

There's also this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/energy/the-oil-price-rally-is-bad-the-diesel-crisis-is-far-worse/2022/03/14/e207748a-a36c-11ec-8628-3da4fa8f8714_story.html If the price of diesel goes significantly above that of regular unleaded on a continuing basis then there...

    Clean or replace VNT15?

Update: so after all that talk about expensive repairs, I realized that my air filter was quite dirty (it was well overdue) so I replaced that and (probably more importantly) cleaned the MAF with some SensorKleen. Today I took 2 separate 1hr trips on the highway and I was unable to induce limp...
