I'm no double clutch granny shifter, but clutch dumps make me squirm having seen and held all the little oily bits...
Hmm..swiss cheese mod. I will keep that in mind! Tho I also choose performance over comfort 90% of the time, all the time...
@JonA I am inspired by your dedication to...
This I also want to know! Have a couple family members with ALH cars on Malone tunes that might convert also... Will report back as things develop. Still waiting on cord to delve deeper.
Delightful to hear as it looking like snow outside this morning. I didn't even think about temp affecting the flex...well I'll just have have to break them in extra vigorous. Chuckle.
Couple hundred into break-in. Just did 5th oil change and switched over to synthetic. Oil looking clean now and car running great.
Starts perfect, but glow plug light only flashes for a sec, so I unplugged the coolant temp sensor and it stays on for about 10 sec. Starts the same either...
Just did a complete rebuild and used the 034 brand rubber mounts that are 25% stiffer than stock. The engine had at least an inch and a half of easy slop on the stock mounts before rebuild and I am throwing quite a bit over OEM torque at them, so was hoping for more durable...but not the god...
I have a '03 Jetta Wagon with an 02m Trans that was swapped in around 200K miles ago when the upgraded power was too much for stock. The previous owner commuted extensively up and down the East Coast and also used it to pull a motorcycle trailer. It is tuned and I drive it rather rowdy...lots...
Did 2nd and 3rd oil change this evening with 10 and then 25 mile between. Break-in seems to be going well, as I am getting slightly more into the powerband I can tell that the pump timing is not quite what it was on the previous engine, but it is running great and the fine break-in glitter in...
Interesting that would cause the fans to operate like that...
Two more oil changes down and several break-in trips with the fresh engine this evening. Had things warmed up plenty and the fan never ran after turning car off. (y)
"Cloud 9" hits triple digits in the summer, and double...
I pulled fuse S180 on battery first, and the fan quit. Fuse good there...
Then I checked fuse 16...good grief it was that easy. That one was blown. Now the fan does not run after shutdown when it is cool.
So this vehicle has done that the whole time I've owned it...and it was that simple...
No argument the tune was pushing things...
Reconnect battery. Fans run.
Start and immediately turn off. Fans are going to run.
It's at least 10 min every time...
So it was late evening, I was all excited to start a fresh built motor in my wagon (ALH)... Midst filling all the many fluids and triple checking everything, I realized I had accidentally ordered Pentosin NF rather than SF when I opened the cap and saw blue rather than the familiar violet...
I presumed that this was a normal TDI experience... Could the previous owner have adjusted the run-time thru a tuning update? If so, I would LOVE to dial that down...
I purchased the car with a fair number of modifications and supposedly a Malone 5 "custom" tune.
Waiting to get cord in...
Not surprised with the miles on my car 400k+ and it came from North Carolina...lots of AC use in previous life. Thanks, I'll start looking to replace larger fan.
I have not actually clocked the run time, but it seems at least 10 min after engine is shut off. Temp is irrelevant, it just runs...
Just checked my fans, only have the passenger side working - would not have thought to look at that. Obviously coming into the colder months, but just did an entire rebuild so I would like to fix as many things as I can while I'm on a spree.
Adding to my list of things to check out once I...
It runs! After priming pump, and bleeding the injector lines, it fired right up. Its the coolest thing when a brand new build comes to life for the first time - to be honest I was a tad anxious having never messed with a TDI to this extent before. Here's to another half-mil miles...
My 02M...
I know I'm new here...but I figured the "soda catch can mod" was in the proper spirit of things... I'll come up with something a bit more long term...
Thanks to a couple members on here I have a RossTech cord on the way!
Few final parts came in this afternoon, so hopefully will get first...
Current Progress. Still have not cranked it over yet. Waiting on a couple parts and then final check over and tidy-up.
Am mechanically savvy from the 12V Cummins world...but I had never even done a timing belt on one of these before, so this was a new experience for me... Learning the...
