    2003 ALH No Start

I have the Ross-Tech cable. Being unable to start the engine I get a ton of codes. Too many for my comprehension. Chalked it up to non-start engine. Maybe there is a clue there? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    2003 ALH No Start

My son and I have questioned each other, step by step on the belt timing, especially the "sucker hole" to no avail. Pumped fuel from an open container of diesel fuel directly into the IP to isolate everything from the filter on back. See paragraph 3 on the original posting, above, for full...

    2003 ALH No Start

Good thought. That would explain the ether scenario but we were careful to have the cam squared with the tool on the vacuum pump end and the cam lobes facing up in a "V" fashion on the number one cylinder and the fuel pump was pinned in its location point. The flywheel mark was also on line. I...

You responded to my post of 5/2/23 asking what am I trying to do. I did more work on my NO START ALH and have a detailed post on 5/21/23. I would greatly appreciate it if you would take a look and give me any of your insight. Thank you.

    2003 ALH No Start

Performed 3rd timing belt change at 270,000 miles. Started and drove fine. A few weeks later the car started to lose power, eventually emitting white exhaust. Finally, no start. Checked the timing belt first to ultimately figure out that the HUB on the fuel pump slipped. I’m not talking about...

Fuel solenoid shuts off after a few seconds - ECU security is disabled.

jimbote, "...is 100% normal. It's a safety feature..." I think this is the answer that I was looking for. An ECU generated response similar to the security feature (which has been neutralized.) When I get back to working on the car in the next week, I'll have direction. I'll post the results...

Fuel solenoid shuts off after a few seconds - ECU security is disabled.

Air in the fuel was a problem which I think has been fixed. All new fuel lines from the hard plastic lines at the firewall to the filter and pump. New filter thermo T. We installed a reciprocating solenoid pump in line to feed the IP. Excellent flow now when bleeding the injectors. It's the...

The engine won't start. the shut off valve closes before the engine starts.

Fuel solenoid shuts off after a few seconds - ECU security is disabled.

2003 Jetta ALH. I have 2 security-disabled ECUs. Both worked fine prior to this. Swapped them. Not the problem. Recently replaced fuel injector nozzles in kind (0.205mm). Crush washers did not come with the rebuilds. Tried using the old washers. The nozzles leaked (no surprise) but the fuel...

3 rd Timing belt change at 265,000. Compression check 430 psi +/- 20 psi, I think we will keep it.

    Center exhaust hanger breaking off.

I love creative solutions. This is a good one. Don't have to cut and replace the pipe (great shape even after 1/4 million miles but I don't want to weld on it). Don't have to weld. 2 pipe clamps, 2 'U' bolts, some 1/4" plate, 2 new rubber hangers, a drill and some elbow grease. Go cranium power!

    Coolant and Coolant Hose Life

When you change the water pump you will loose some coolant and must top the resivoir off after the engine heats up and the coolant starts flowing through the thermostat. Don't assume that the coolant was changed. While it is may be a good idea to change it at that time, I think most will agree...

    Coolant and Coolant Hose Life

Since there are no takers on where to buy coolant hoses, I made a great leap of faith into the unknown, searched several distributors and ordered every coolant hose listed for a 2003 TDI from www.Partstrain.com. The descriptions of the items are bad so I went to the manufacturers website (Gates...

    Coolant and Coolant Hose Life

Actually, I change my TB evey 80k+, so this is my second TB change. I know 100k is the interval but it makes me warm and fuzzy to do it earlier. Thanks for the advice. With everyones input, I think I'll change hoses, fluid and thermostat and continue to feel warm and fuzzy. Got fluid from...

    Coolant and Coolant Hose Life

When should I be changing out the coolant and coolant hoses? I have 2003 Jetta with 165k and drive normal higway driving - no towing or heavy loads. I'm getting ready for a timing belt change and figure that it would be easier to do the change with everything apart or am I being premature? I'm...
