    How Long did it take??

It is very possible it will takes weeks to process all of the requests. These need to be printed, then put into envelopes, that process is fairly time consuming for 500k packages. Having worked in this industry, I can tell you this is no small effort. It is highly likely these are being...

    CO2 Does anyone care anymore?

And there you have the huge flaw in the global warming argument. "Extra heat", how can there extra heat?

Pay fine and fix emissions problem or buyback?

You don't understand how class action suits work. A buy back would never be part of the deal, since the lawyers wouldn't make enough off their percentage.

Pay fine and fix emissions problem or buyback?

There are too many unknowns at this point to make that statement. We have no idea what the fine is going to be. (We know what the are proposing, but not what it will be) We don't know what the fix is and we don't know if we can get out of having the car fixed if we don't like it. We also don't...

    Poll "EPA" cheat device

We have a Honda Insight, which is very much like the Prius. They are not fun to drive, but my wife can squeeze 60mpg out of hers, making it very awesome. However, it takes some skill to get that and one really has to limit their top end speed. In long distance driving at 70mph, it only gets...

2015 TDI, ECU update for emissions

I didn't see either of these effect. Slightly different regen cycles and a bit of a different cold start routine were the only changes I've noticed. I didn't get a 6 MPG reduction in mileage, that would have been very bad.

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

It isn't the law, it is a regulation. There is a big difference. A law is passed by the representatives of the people who were voted for. A regulation is created by the EPA in a vacuum. If we don't agree with it, then it should be changed.

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

Vehicle emissions are only 5% of the total NOx emissions that contribute to smog. You can feel safe that your emissions aren't really having much of an effect.

I hope the Tiguan wasn't badly damaged

Tiguan crashed into the Aston after the Aston ran the stop light. Still the Aston Martins fault.

    Delayed Brakes ?

Wow! I just read the whole thread expecting to see what the resolution to the problem was. I can't believe there is still a problem and that they still have the car.

    Delayed Brakes ?

True, but I got from what you said that you told them about the problem, then had them drive it and they verified it. It is very easy for people to see a problem that isn't there when they are looking for a specific issue. How about having someone drive and and say, "Do my breaks feel mushy?"...

    Delayed Brakes ?

Yes, it is widely known that in Germany, people push the brake a few seconds before it is needed. There is no emergency breaking in Germany... Sounds like a real problem. Cars should stop when the break is pressed, not have a delay. One thing you can do is ask someone else to drive it and...

Help! Last minute change - need to decide 14 sportwagen

Funny, that is exactly what I said. We were getting one of two grey colors for me and I told my wife I just didn't care. Either car would be fine, the color really didn't matter. She went out and purchased one of the two we were looking at and it ended up being the darker one. I guess she...

    Owner/Driver stereotypes.

I always purchase cars with tinted windows, the darker the better! Living in Florida, if the windows aren't tinted, the sun shines in show hot that the A/C can't keep up! I always tint, never drive hard. However, I might think twice about buying a car with an aftermarket radio! I always...

brand new to tdi and have a few questions about noises

Actually, I think I know the noise you are speaking about. My cars sort of makes a "zzzzzzzzz click" sound after I shut it down. It sound to me like there is a robotic arm under the hood that is returning to its rest position. Not sure what it really is, but that is what I imagined the first...

Standard transmissions are for losers - discuss...

    1. I think everyone should know how to drive a manual. My wife and I both do. I can drive a stick and an on the column shift and know how to shift a motorcycle with many years experience on each. My son has not had a chance to learn yet, as we don't currently have any manuals. 2. My personal...

    bartering at a VW dealership?

Same thing here. My wife was unsure about it until she drive it in a test drive. Then my son drive it to try it out as well. Both agreed it was the best they had driven. Many other cars were on the table until the test drive!

    New dealership approach

Keep in mind that in Japan the pocket book is almost always tightly control by the wife. A man going to a show room might be able to look around, but without the wife's permission, he isn't getting a new car. (I do mean permission) So, since the women control the pocket book, marketing...

    bartering at a VW dealership?

"Cash down" is irrelevant to the price of the car, but does effect total amount paid, if the interest rate isn't 0% and it does effect the total monthly payment. The more down, the less the payment will be.

Oil spewed out- now what should I ask?

I had my Suzuki serviced at a Jiffy Lube and when I got home I saw a couple of drops of oil under it. I reached under and checked the oil plug, only to find I was able to turn it both directions with my fingers! A few more miles and I would have lost all my oil. That was the last time I used...
