Air Hissing sound with A/C on, under boost

I think we can call this normal operation. I don’t have my 2013 anymore but it only had 20,000miles on it at the time and it was exhibiting these symptoms. Wouldn’t worry about it. I now have a 2014 Touareg tdi and it does a similar thing just less noticeable

    AC seems possessed

The cabin filter is new, and airflow is good out of the vents. The previous RCV did the same except the performance of the system is better and it doesn’t conk out quite as often, but still conks out. Maybe I’ll throw a compressor at it.

    AC seems possessed

It is possible, looking on my scan tool, the pressure goes no higher than 13 bar, it says max for the system is 50bar. The system was professionally charged and yes the new condenser has a new receiver dryer. I don’t believe the evaporator is icing up since I can monitor the temp and it always...

    AC seems possessed

I’ve replaced the condenser early this year as I did the refrigerant control valve from polar bear inc. this issue only happens on hot days. The ac blasts ice cold, my evaporator temp hovers around 1c - 4c and is perfect. Then when my fan speed is on max and I slow down below 40mph, it’ll cut...

    Front core support on mk5’s

Excellent. Thank you! I will definitely look for an OEM one. The car has 500,000 miles on it and don’t feel like spending several hundred bucks on a new part when I can just buy an OE one from a mk5 in the scrap yard.

    Front core support on mk5’s

My core support for rad, IC, and condenser has been destroyed and zip tied together to be a temporary fix…that was back in 2010 when my mom owned the car and ran into a gravel pile. I would like to replace the rad on this car as it is bent from that impact, but not leaking. I’ll be buying a new...

    06 Jetta 1.9 ac help!

Yes if you have dual zone climate you will have a sensor for left and right vent and footwell blower temp as well. There is a temperature sensor on the evaporator as well.

    06 Jetta 1.9 ac help!

Time to get vcds or obd11. No way of knowing a whole lot, until the air conditioning module is scanned. Sounds like the module thinks something is very wrong so it should pop up with codes pointing you in the right direction.

Worse fuel economy after timing belt change.

No that’s US gallons. Canadian/UK gallons, I’m getting over 60mpg. Best so far was 68mpg on a road trip last year. I’m a few mpg away from that number on my mainly highway work commute in wet spring time so I’m hoping for 70 on my road trips this summer.

Worse fuel economy after timing belt change.

Thankyou everyone for your insight, I filled up a few days after this post and then went through one more tank to be sure, and it appears that I had an unrelated issue for my fuel economy. My culprit was the ziptie is use for the wastegate actuator, which seems to plague these BRM engines, it...

Worse fuel economy after timing belt change.

Should’ve figured as much. I drive lots but it takes a good week to go through a tank so I will report back with some results.

Worse fuel economy after timing belt change.

I changed the belt and all components on my mk5 BRM tdi. I’m noticing about 1-3 mpg worse than before and the weather has even gotten warmer since then. So it’s probably even worse. My torsion value prior to the belt change was -1.5. After the belt change is at +0.49. I thought this timing...

    Heater Element for auxiliary heat

Yes that’s the flap for the heat/cool dial. The heat has to be on max with the key on So the motor fully extends. Put it on max heat for about 5 seconds to make sure it’s all the way out and then it’s out of your way.

    Heater Element for auxiliary heat

Ah yes, the mk5 aux heater. To clear things up, its a 1000W and 100Amp grid heater that lives on the drivers side footwell under the dash, pretty much right under the radio. It's right behind the heater core. I have way too much experience with these stupid things. I love them and I hate them...

    2005.5 jetta tdi brm

You mentioned unplugging your battery, both the red steering wheel indicator and traction control lights will be on if power is lost, after a few yards of driving, those lights will go out. This will happen every time your car loses connection to the battery. It's hard to say with those other...

Cluster died while driving, car stays running, battery/alternator issue?

Not sure on the mk4's, but I've had a cluster fail on a mk5 and mk6 in this exact way.

Keep my TDI? Swap my engine into another one?

Thankyou everyone for your replies and opinions. I will be investing more money into my mk5 after all and it'll stick around. You're right, it's too much work, I have to familiarize myself with another vehicle and fix it's issues, etc. I just bought a load of parts today for it, AC refrigerant...

    timing belt

I've done a fair share of timing belts on TDI's and gas powered VW's. The diesel ones are definitely beefed up, the interval for the 2009+ common rail 2.0TDI's are over 200,000kms. My current 1.9TDI BRM out of my 2006 Jetta has about 220,000km on its belt, I totally underestimated how old it...

Keep my TDI? Swap my engine into another one?

Well like I mentioned, my clutch is new, my suspension is new. I can carry all that over. I have a Touareg I can rip around in, and have lots of space for two cars being worked on. My brakes are also about 4 months old, so everything mechanically bad on that car, I can transfer over to the 'new'...
