    What should I do?

The way I'm thinking about it now, as long as I stick to my budget for the new car, taking the buyback just results in me in almost the same exact financial situation with the same debt as I am in now, except with a brand new car. I basically would have driven my TDI for 3.5 years for free...

    Passat Replacement based cabin size?

So folks, is the gasser Passat worth getting over a similarly priced sedan made by someone else? I said I would never buy VW unless it was TDI, but here I am trying to convince myself that I buying a Passat is okay just because I'll enjoy having it more than the run of the mill Honda or Toyota.

2017 Passat 1.8t gasses worth getting?

2017 Passat Gasser Since I may be getting rid of my TDI for a buyback, I have to ask...is the gasser Passat worth buying? I've always been stuck on TDI when it comes to VW and never considered the gas version. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, since it's not TDI related. I wasn't sure...

    What should I do?

I'm leaning towards buyback now guys. Minus finance charges and upkeep, it makes it as if I had this car for free for 3.5 years. As much as I hate to part with the car, having a brand new car in the same exact financial situation as I am now is pretty hard to pass up. I have no idea what I'd...

    What should I do?

The idea of having major repairs needed on the current TDI is what makes me want to do a buyback now. very hard decision....

    What should I do?

I'm thinking they wouldn't know if I was able to tune back to factory settings at will.

    What should I do?

which is fine. If I chose this I would get the emissions update and then just get an aftermarket tune to negate it.

    What should I do?

I know this is probably a repetitive question lately, but I'm not sure what to do for my settlement. You guys are the only ones who know about TDI's so you're the only people I can relate to. [estimated] $5,950 Cash settlement, or [estimated] $20, 777 buyback? Car: VW Jetta TDI 2013 w/ DSG...

    40,000 mile service = $650???

Why not just take it to a private mechanic? I'm pretty sure that they can't void your warranty if a privater mechanic does the work.

What Did You Pay For Your 2013 Jetta TDI?

I finally bought one. 2013 Jetta TDI w/ DSG BASE model and "free" monster mats. Platinum Grey. $20,832 for the car $22,616 out the door I'm satisfied with that price. Thanks to everyone here who gave advice. I'm glad I'm in the TDI club now. Pics to come later.

    Any mobile radio operators?

I'm on the 2m bands here and there. I don't operate much, but I still like being able to. That reminds me, I need to downsize to a small antenna for the Jetta...my old one I had on the Jeep would look hilarious on top of the Jetta.

    Do I have this right?

What's with keeping the RPM's below 3,800? I remember test driving this vehicle and I distinctly remember it having high RPM's compared to my old car. Is is really necessary to keep the RPM's down? edit: maybe I am wrong. It's been a while since I test drove it.

    Do I have this right?

I just read about that. Wow! All of this time I have been letting my diesels warm up while idling like a sacred ritual.

    Do I have this right?

Initial engine break in. Some say you don't need to, but I'm going to do it anyway for my first brand new car. Let the engine warm up (I'm used to letting an engine idle for a few mins to "warm up", but is this what that means, or does it mean to not drive hard until it warms up?) NO long...

    Simple question

Maybe a dumb question but...you can't over lube it right? I mean a lot of guys dose it by tank, but I almost always keep my tank half full. I like having it for emergencies etc, after a bad experience in a natural disaster where pumps were shut down. So adding it per half tank...is it okay to do?

    Broken timing belt head question

The vehicle I'm used to usually never causes valve damage on TB break. The rockers collapse as a weak point to save the valves. I'm assuming a TDI is much different though.
