    Mercedes E250 Bluetec

No diesel you buy at the pump is pure diesel. They all have additives. This is just Mobile's marketing hype for the particular set of additives they've chosen. Your Bluetec will be fine.

There's literally no way to do this in a car with a longitudinally mounted engine. Who told you this? A Merc salesman? About the only car company to ever hang an engine out over the front axle is Audi... I get the other points. The 3er is a bit small (I have one). The 5er needed to come...

    2018 equinox diesel

I don't think anybody is skeptical over your numbers. Down east (I'm in Raleigh) is great for fuel mileage. Lots of flat, straight roads and off the interstate the speed is usually 55MPH. That's perfect for getting great mileage. The skeptical one is the photo of the dash showing 50+ MPG but...

Crazy how much these things go for new, I would never recommend anybody buy a new 3-series. But, the off lease ones are insanely affordable. I got mine for $25k with 28k miles on it. That's $4k cheaper than I bought my Golf for in 2009 (granted that was a new car, but still!).

When it comes to BMWs, that's the best way to do it. New ones depreciate so quickly because of BMW's lease programs. Slightly used BMWs are a dime a dozen! And unfortunately when it comes to diesel BMWs you don't usually have a smorgasbord of choices.

Couldn't agree more. The seats in my MKVI Golf were 10 times better than the non-sport seats in my 328d, they're just flat boards with a bit of cushion. May as well be a bench seat.

    Mercedes E250 Bluetec

Yeah, Car and Driver didn't mention anything about a diesel in their article. I think it's probably an EU only engine and the LA times doesn't care to know the difference...

Mazda still in the diesel game?

How long have they been promising diesel Mazdas? At least 5 years it feels like, still no diesel available. Like you, I'll believe when I see it.

    BMW 328d vs. VW TDIs

I agree that the interior materials are not really any better than what I had in my MKIV Jetta or MKVI Golf, but the gadgets, gizmos, and tech is far better. The BMW is more easily customized either directly from the iDrive or with coding. The nice part is that all the coding software is...

    328d xDrive wagon reviews

I think your only solution is to buy the 328dxT with an extra warranty and drive happy. :)

SSCTDO (TDI Club Secret Society of Chevy TD owners)

I quite like the start-stop in my 328d. However, I was also the guy who would turn on his Golf at a stop light that I knew was long. Now at those lights the engine shuts off, I hit park and give my foot a break, that was the nice thing about a manual, two clicks up on the parking brake and the...

    328d xDrive wagon reviews

I don't know.. :) I don't have an xdrive car, so I only follow the problem loosely. Some people have gone through 3 transfer cases in ~80k miles and others don't have any problems at all. I think it must be something to do with conditions rather a bad batch of parts. It is not widespread...

There's a post on Bimmerpost about this. Not many participating, and the only recurring issue is the transfer case, but that's not 328d specific.

    328d xDrive wagon reviews

Maintenance items on BMW's are certainly more than VW, not 3x - 4x more than a current VW, but probably over your B4, yes. Also, check into transfer case issues with all 3-series xDrives. The transfer case seems to be very picky with regards to having all four tires having the exact same...

The very Anglophile Society of Jaguar Diesel owners

Mmmm... Yeah, that makes sense. I guess hauling a heavy trailer up a grade could overheat the DPF if not designed to handle it, eh?

What do they mean by this statement? The diesel should require less cooling than a similarly powered gas engine..

    328d xDrive wagon reviews

I think the huge depreciation is generally because BMW leases a lot of vehicles. When they come off lease they are sold for cheap. I got my 328d (sedan) for $25k with 28k miles after it came off lease. New sticker price for it would have been around $45k. Also, I think very few of these cars...
