    Swapping Wheels

My 2013 Jetta is getting turned in with worn out Blizzaks on Tire Rack steel wheels. Once I get my turn in date, those go on. They are worn down to that hard rubber compound that sucks in the rain.

60k Service Dilemma: Realistically...how long can you put it off?

The oil had 16,000 miles on it at the time of posting. I have had it changed every 10,000 miles since new. It now has gone 18,000 miles since the last oil change. I'm not sure what else is due for service at the 140,000 mile mark, which is the service interval I skipped. I had the oil...

60k Service Dilemma: Realistically...how long can you put it off?

Add me to the "neglect club". After 130,000 miles of dealer service done according to the manual, I blew off whatever was supposed to happen at 140,000 miles. I'm at 146,000 now, probably get to 147,000 by the time it's turn in day. 16K on the dealer's oil is all I know for sure what I know...

Engine Performance and Southern States Super Gold Diesel

I've been using it exclusively in my 2013 Jetta TDI for about the last month, or about 6 fillups, and really can't tell much difference in this warmer weather. I know the engine really quiets down with this during winter time, though. MAYBE it's giving me up to 2 more mpg, but there are so...

When do we get our letters?

Just got my letter via email at 0800 EDT today, points me to the VWCourtSettlement.com website already discussed in other threads.

Oil being used on ALH Jettas at 150k+ miles

Mahle, Mann, and VW, in that order of most used. I used to shop online for the best deal on packs of 5-10 at a time and whatever was the best deal at the time is what I bought.

Oil being used on ALH Jettas at 150k+ miles

In the 2003 Jetta TDI that I traded in with 380,000 miles on a new on in Nov 2012, I used nothing but Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 diesel oil every 10,000 miles, with a couple of 20,000 mile oil changes (with oil sampling to back it up). I did my first oil change at 5,000 miles, considered that to...

Bump for the procrastinators that are still dealing with this DC area storm (and more to come). I still have these in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Northern VA/Eastern Panhandle WV area, can transport to you.

Snow Tires & Factory 2003 Jetta Wheels

Factory 2003 aluminum wheels, Michelin X-Ice tires. 2 are 8/32", 2 are 7/32". $500. Few scratches on wheels as can be expected, but look nice and tires are in great shape. Date code is 3810. Tires have nitrogen in them, too.Put these on your car and outrun Audis in the snow!

How goes it in the snow?

My new 2013 Jetta with 225 wide 17" ContiPro tires just sucked the the first time I took it out in 3" of wet snow, worse than my 2003 Jetta with 195/65/15 tires (which makes sense). I'm glad I bought some used 205/55/16 Blizzak tires/wheels to put on the 2013 and now it's pretty good. I had...

    40,000 miles on Stock tires?

"I know a guy" with stock Contis on his 2010 with 91,000 miles on them! He's just above the wear bars, though. Rotates them every 10K at the dealer, DC beltway traffic commuter.

    How-To Remove/Install the Misfuel Adapter 2013 Jetta

I removed my misfueling adapter from my 2013this afternoon and it was simpler than I was expecting after reading this thread a couple weeks ago. I just put a flathead screwdriver in the 11 o'clock position on the outside of the contraption and pushed it all the way in as far as I could, then...

What did you do to your mk6 Jetta today?

Removed the misfueling adapter in my filler nozzle with a flathead screwdriver and a bent coat hanger. On edit: yeah, I need to change my sig block, as I traded in the 2003 with 380,000 miles on my new 2013 Jetta.

BP Diesel and Premium Diesel in MD, VA and DC

I could tell that my car smoked more using the Tysons BP fuel this summer, which I thought was odd if it was supposed to be 47 cetane. I had been buying from them for years whenever I passed thru, and it was always quieter and smoked less, until at least this summer. So, thanks for finding out...

    BP does not guarantee........

I saw a sticker like that at the BP on Rt 1 in Annapolis Junction, MD, which is in between DC and Baltimore. So, it's "generic" diesel, does not have the additives to make it BP specs.

scangauge II xgauges? transmission, HP, boost - anything else?

I added the transmission temp in, but I don't have any faith in the number displayed because it is the same as the water temp that was already programmed in. And after I had a panic when I saw high temps once and took it to the dealer for diagnosis, they said they don't know what that water...

    Biodiesel availability

Thank you for the years of providing top quality biodiesel all these years, and for letting us all know. I was getting ready to make a run up there myself to fill up some jugs. BD is getting more expensive and I can understand the financial decision to stop selling it.

Oil extractor V conventional drain plug

If the oil is cold, it sure takes a long time with the pump trying to suck it up thru that small tube. And I am using 5W-30 oil with 10K OCI. I like to change oil after it's all drained to the bottom of the engine, and this works well using the drain plug method. But I still use the suction...

Whose 01M auto tranny has died?

My 2003 tranny died last summer going 70mph crusing on the interstate at 292K miles. Started making a whining noise that got louder and suddenly had a bad vibration. Then a clunk, then no power to the wheels. Coasted to the shoulder, car would not move, as the tranny locked up, even in...
