    P0303, glow plug connection?

Got a 2011 jetta sportwagon with a bit over 140k miles on it 3in exhaust and tuned, black haze stage2 prior to the tune, i was getting occasional improbable signal codes for glow plug pressure sensor 3, particularly when it is wet out. Glow plug 3's black plastic harness cover is crushed and it...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

Hadn't checked the intercooler, just the boost pipe from the turbo. It's interesting actually, the clip on the boost pipe to pancake pipe was put back on loose, so there was a massive boost leak as it came open. During that time I didn't see any white smoke, just black from the ECU not knowing...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

ALH. Replaced the fuel filter last week. Changed oil too. Haven't seen any real oil loss either. Have not seen any signifigant coolant loss. No oil in coolant or vice versa. Smoke isn't constant. Just after accelerating hard in 4th or 5th (good example is shifting from 4th to 5th. Get it to...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

I'll need to checkl that. Yea, the temp wasn't enough to move the needle on the gauge much, but scangauge showed it. Normally, I'm used to seeing it sit around 93*C or so and hardly budge. It ramps up somewhat quickly.

03 golf with occasional white smoke

update: Changed the oil, air filter, fuel filter and ran DieselPurge through it. Seems to run a little nicer, sounds smoother, but still getting the smoke. It's just on hard acceleration, often times after stopping. It's a thick grey/white smoke. I can't tell what exactly it smells like.. I'm...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

Yes, original injectors as far as I know. No it has not, was told to check it by others. Gonna do that when I change the oil this week. Fuel filter is also gonna be changed as well. And I'll double check the injection timing. I'll pick up a can of diesel purge and run that through when I change...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

Not yet. I'll ask around locally and see if anyone has a setup for compression testing. Someone had mentioned a possible bad injector, and I assume they mean one that is sticking open and pouring too much fuel into the chamber. Timing should be ok, belt was replaced last fall due to tensioner...

03 golf with occasional white smoke

I posted this over at vwdiesel as well, though no one has responded yet. Recently started seeing white smoke on occasion. Started out any time the car would coast in 5th gear after acceleration to about 3k RPM. Would just be a puff. I'm thinking it is oil, smelled like it, and the thinner bits...

Any TDIs that are purely mechanical?

Some of the early 90's Jettas, Golfs and Passats had a 1.9l mechanical engine, the AAZ motor. It's an indirect injection motor though, so not quite the same as the TDI. As others have mentioned, there are folks out there that can take the early TDI's, the ALH, AHU and 1Z, and convert them to...

    Oxygen sensor?

Don't believe so. The BRMs have one before the cat, but the ALH, as far as i have been able to tell, do not have one. I'm sure someone else can chime in and correct me though.

    Sluggish Beetle

Check the hose that goes from the vacuum pump to the break check valve and brake booster. I was getting occasional limp mode, that hose was cracking at the vacuum pump. Cut the cracking part and adjusted the hose, haven't had much of an issue since, knock on wood. Otherwise, what everyone else...

'fess up - who got emotional handing back keys

mine's going back the 24th. need to pull some souvenirs from it. but it looks like i'll be towing it part way and limping the rest. keeps giving a short circuit codes and runs horribly. was a little sad pulling all my stuff from it recently, only had the car for about 2 years. guess i feel bad...

    Omaha, NE chat thread

Got a 2003 Golf TDI. Finally got one with an ALH. Few minor dings and a little rust, small oil leak on the oil cooler, but nothing too serious. Runs like a champ so far. I'm pretty satisfied. 2 door, and a manual. Glad I learned to drive stick so quickly on the old 86. The 09 is going back to...

Well if they took that, hopefully they'll take mine, with all it's engine sputtering and short-circuit-reporting, misfiring nonsense... Assuming it'll make it to the dealer.

    Official list of HPFP Failures

Well, some good news, may have dodged a bullet. Pulled codes this evening, P1237: Open circuit in injector #1 and misfires in cylinder #1, throwing code P0301. What little I was able to find points more to electrical problems/possible ECM failure. Oh, I'm certain that the engine isn't going to...

    Odd idle sputter

I've dug around on the forum for a bit and have not seemed to find anything on this, so here we go. 2009 Mk5 Jetta, CR TDI with EGR delete and straight pipe, Malone stage 0.5 tune. This afternoon, on my drive home from work, after getting off the interstate, started to notice an occasional...
