sounds like the immobilizer is active. You need an original FOB to deactivate it. A low battery can also activate it, as well as driving over 5 minutes with a valet key.
After a long search and many returned Radiators, A match was found. Mine was a

need to follow directions in A5 forum for full evacuation of system including oil. Valve will either have a torx head screw holding it in or slip ring. follow the wires to compressor and that is the head...

+2 for Allan, He just completed the cam, timing belt, flywheel etc etc on 2005.5 TDI Jetta. WOW what a difference. and very reasonable. He actually had 3 white Jettas out by his garage at one time, maybe should have bought that blue one..LOL
