So I was able to find the 505 type oil which did the job! They had a separate section for them which I apparently overlooked the last time I was there. It was slightly more expensive but certainly the right type which this Passat requires. Thanks, guys!

I have a Pumpe Duce (05 Passat Euro spec) I need to do an oil change on. So you had no issues using the T-6 on yours?

Thank you both for your thoughtful response! This is very educational for me as I prepare to do my first oil change on my BKC which has 290.5K km. The previous owner did tell me there’s a little oil leak however he never saw decrease whenever he checked the dipstick.

Thanks for that info! I hope it’s a 1.9 based on what I’ve read on it so far. It did fine on the autobahn as I was able to drive it at 140-160 KM/H with some steering wheel vibration.

I am about to buy a 2005 Passat TDI but I don't know if it's a 1.8, 1.9 or 2.0...how can I tell? I recall reading something about a box covering the timing belt with this info. What if that's not available? Where else can I look to get this info? TIA!
