I just did my ALH Pump swap. I didn't have to adjust the bracket.
To machine the face of the sprocket flat I was able to fasten it to attach it to one porter cable grinder to spin it, then use another grinder with a grinding disc to machine it flat. poor man's lathe.
I enlarged the bracket...
When I did my heater core replacement, I had to take my entire dash out and harness out. I always assumed there was a passenger airbag, but it is just a dummy that looks like an airbag is in there. No wires or harness going to it, nothing to remove.

I bet the coolant heater is the culprit. It draws a lot of amps on start up but turns off when motor warms up. It is a great big resistor and probably has a big magnetic field.
I had a bad rear bearing completely let go after trying to nurse a squeeling bearing until the weekend to change it. The rear caliper bracket will prevent the wheel from coming off but it will destroy the rotor. The amount of play would be dangerous at speed since the rear end be loosely...
