Thanks for the reminder. After more thought, I think not covering my lower front this winter may be the cause of the re-occurrence. I installed a tow plate to be able to tow four down behind my bus and all the brackets are in that grill area. Since I had the TSB installed in 2011, I have...
No start but have the IC TSB
Had a no start last week. I had the IC TSB fix done to the car back in 2011 when i lived in Texas. I now live in Washington state since 2012 and winters until now haven't been a problem. Coincidentally, the weather pattern has been very similar to the winter in...
I just replaced mine last week, 5.5 years. Started to get the "EPS" warning on startup here and there (usually after I interrupted a regen) and figured I'd get it done before winter.
Interstate from Costco, fitment #29,$110...a perfect fit and 730CCA.
Is "diesel" becoming a bad word?
This may not be the correct forum but reading a press release from Airbus today (they bought Eurocopter) regarding flight testing "...high-compression engine...piston engine uses widely-available kerosene fuel." The rest of the article goes on to describe 50%...
Had mine installed in Texas back in June 2011 after locking up earlier in February and have since spent two winters now in central Washington...not even a hint of icing and any ice would thaw every night in the garage if i had any. Spend lots of high-speed on the highway across the state as...
Steering and brakes in cars is nearly as important as primary flight controls for small and mid-sized airplanes and helicopters...boost is good for reducing pilot workload but you'd better be able to get it down (pulled over in terms of cars) with no power and the accumulators have given their...
You will always have steering control, engine running or not, key in ignition position or not (as long as you don't remove the key...it'll most definitely lock the steering). I routinely move my JSW in my driveway after turning the key to the first click (not ignition on, so assist is off) and...
"your mileage may vary" is soooo true driving theseTDIs...for example: my daily commute is 44 miles r/t on 3-lane parkway (102 traffic lights) with only 4 of those miles on interstate. On a typical commute, my average speed is 36 mph (according to MFD) and I stop for maybe 20-25 of those 100...
No problems so far this winter since my kit was installed May 2011. Hasn't been much below freezing however so not an ideal condition to claim success.

Generally, I see 5-10% worse FE on my diesels during the colder months but I'm one of the "lucky" ones to have the new I/C and I think I'm about double that loss now.
Since we've seen 30-40 degree temps here (finally!) my first tank barely went 450 mi and my second isn't looking good...
Try turning your selector knob to something other than defrost. Only two conditions for the A/C to come on: defrost or manually pushing the A/C button.
I had mine installed earlier this summer and so far there have been zero effects on performance or MPGs, in fact MPGs might be edging up slightly but I'll attribute that to breaking in...now at around 22k (kit was installed at ~18k IIRC).

Water will always settle to the bottom of the fuel tank in diesel fuel, it's heavier...that's why we sump our JetA fuel trucks daily. Condensation on steel tanks is horrible but poly tanks now reduce the accumulation rate significantly in cars and trucks. I chased a prematurely plugged fuel...
yeah, I wish they'd test them after they've had a year or 20k miles to break in some. Mine, for example, was averaging 39.5 mpg combined last year this time...now I'm averaging 44.3...same route/temps/driving style.
From what I saw of the new i/c in the box, nothing...it looked fairly generic with no louvers or linkage of any kind. If there is any changes, they must be largely inside for routing of the air flow, etc. Once installed in the car, from what I can see anyway, there is nothing remarkable about...
FWIW, I had a chance to look at the installed kit...the only thing I can see is that the new elbow with the sensor is installed right before intake plenum, so clearly not a water/moisture accumulation sensor. The three vacuum lines make their way up to other vacuum lines in various sensors on...
I did have a "no start" in my garage this past Feb. after a thaw and ended up driving it into the dealer after if finally started. First time they said no codes, no foul, nothing they can do. I then did some research on this forum and discovered I quite possibly had a slug of water. I took...
That was exactly my first thought, but the sensor is not located at the very bottom of the hose and in order for enough ice/water to form to reach the sensor and trigger whatever, that would be way too late. The sensor appears to be at about the 4 o'clock position once the hose is...
I dropped my JSW off yesterday for the kit installation and asked to see the parts. I was particularly interested in the new elbow with the fitting in it. As best I could tell there appears to be a brass-colored sensor with tiny holes protruding in the airstream with three vacuum line...
