Sent in documents on 10/30. Received first offer on 12/28. It had an error (showed I owed nothing on car). Called and they said they would correct. Received second offer letter today. Still wrong.
I think VW has finally surpassed Comcast as my most hated company.
Girlfriend is buying a car today. She was really set on buying a Tiguan. I took her to a few dealers yesterday and got her to fall in love with the Mazda CX-5. Feels good to prevent another VW sale :D.
Looking forward to not having a car (minus the company car) and not paying for the garage and storage insurance on the Golf.
Then again, I am a car whore and really would like a Tacoma TRD Pro...
Tried to break the TDI today. Drove a bunch of rutted back roads to get to a trailhead. This was one of the smoother sections in the photo. Bottomed out a few times but she made it haha. Will try again to break her this weekend as I head to the Alvord Desert.
Went to storage and checked on the TDI today. Unfortunately it was still there. Closed the door and will check on it again next month. Impatiently waiting for a buyback.
Just do what I did. Throw it in a garage and put storage insurance on it. At least I can save a little money on insurance until a resolution is brought up.
Some of us (well myself) have received company cars and no longer need a personal car. So now I have a car with a monthly payment that sits in a garage on storage insurance. Like the above poster, I don't want or need a large compensation. All I want is pre scandal resale value so I can sell the...
Well I was offered $18,500 from VW when I was thinking of trading it in (pre scandal) and was offered $11,500 from the same VW dealership after the scandal. Now it sits in a garage on storage insurance.
Received a company car in November. Would have loved to sell the TDI. Now it sits in a garage on storage insurance until prices return to normal (hopefully one day).
I have been driving around a Fusion Hybrid the last month. Surprisingly enjoy it. The TDI is now parked in a garage on storage insurance. It will sit there until VW comes out with their solution. I can't wait to never own another VW...
Yes if the entire community collectively decided not to trade in any of their TDI's and only sell privately at the before scandal market value. Then the pricing may not have dropped if the demand for the cars was still there. How long is it going to take for that dealer to sell them at $13k...
I agree with most of those points. If I sell my car privately, I can most likely get $16,000-$16,500. In my opinion, that would be $2,000-$2,500 off what I could have gotten if Dieselgate did not happen. But dieselgate has caused (imo) the market for diesels to drop significantly. It has also...
But the emissions problem caused the resale value. KBB is down 13% for VW Diesels since the scandal. VW as a whole is down 7% after the scandal. Now its not VW's fault that I no longer have a need for the car. But without the scandal I could have walked away without negative equity.
But it is...
Yea. Toyota and Nissan said their dealer has put a hold on selling any used TDI's until a resolution is known. Carmax offer is tempting. I would love to walk away from this thing.
