SundanceGS,
My experience has been that I could accumulate enough water/ice in two weeks to cause a no start condition.
I had a frozen inter cooler in:
December 2009(towed to dealer, removed ice, dealer opened a report with VW)
December 2010(I cleared the ice myself)
November 2013(I cleared...
I too was pissed with the useless Ipod dock in the console, the aux input would have been cheaper and more useful. Anyway, I added an aux input by tapping into the SAT radio audio cables behind the radio. I ran wires to and aux socket that I mounted in one of the blank switches in front of the...
I just had a set of Michelin Premier AS installed, the MXM4s are longer available. I only have a few hundred miles on them, very quiet and grip well in the rain. My original Contis had 77,000 miles, but had become VERY noisy, might have had an internal failure.
I have a 2009 Jetta, with the engine at the normal operating temperature(190) I'm not getting any heat into the cabin. I can get heat only when I activate the aux heater by setting temperature to 80. Air flow to vent, foot, windshield works as expected. AC works fine. Fan works at every setting...
Unfortunately it took less than 3 weeks(about 350 miles) for the problem to occur again on 1/28. Here's the large block of ice I removed from the passenger side. This is really a pita:
Flyboy320,
Thanks.
I went ahead and removed the snorkel and blocked off the grill as you described.
Hopefully this will reduced the accumulation of moisture. This is what I pulled out of the hose:
Intercooler frozen again(fourth time overall) this morning. I guess I need to drain more frequently than every two weeks. Luckily I left the belly pan off so I can easily drain the pipe. Can't wait till spring!
Well, it happened to me again, now at 72k miles. Car has been sitting in 20-40 degree weather for last 4 days, I guess I should have put it on ramps so I could at least drain the intercooler. This is the third time, first time under warranty, no 'fix' was available. Second out of warranty, VW...
Sunoco on the GSP went up 10 cents overnight to $3.77 for B5. I guess it's their last chance to increase profits during the labor day weekend. It will be back down to $3.67 next week.
