Another limp mode with no codes

Volksguy, I have the original BK that I be swapping back in. It just seems strange that everything was working fine before the engine swap.

Another limp mode with no codes

jdulle, thanks for the response. the fuel filter is new. I am going to replace it anyway. The vacuum lines have all been replaced and seem fine. I just replaced the N75 and still have the problem. I have a spare MAF sensor that I'm going to swap on. I guess I am going to go thru the limp...

Another limp mode with no codes

It's a GQ ECU with a slight tune (see above). It has always shown codes with the previous engine.

Another limp mode with no codes

Latest update. I needed to walk away from the car to keep my sanity. Decided to take it to a recommended TDI mechanic from the list. They looked at it and decided that they did not want to work on it. They did think that the problem is with the turbo or wastegate. I was able to check them both...

Another limp mode with no codes

A bit more background. I recently had a lower mileage engine and trans swapped by my local garage. The previous engine was stock and ran fine with this setup till I blew a heater core and cooked itself. Abacus -Thanks for the info and a big reminder. item 1 - I do have a GQ ECU with a slight...

Another limp mode with no codes

So I have been going thru the "troubleshoot low power" notes. I am checking things off the list but was hoping someone could narrow down my issue(s). It drives well to 2000rpm, then goes into limp mode. When the rpms come back down below 2000rpm, it's fine (doesn't stay in limp mode.) I have...

    B4V with timing issues

Vince, thanks for the input. One thing I did notice is that there is little to no change between normal and Basic mode. Not sure why? JETaah, that is exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the confirmation. Still need to know which way I need to move it a tooth, toward firewall or radiator.

    B4V with timing issues

I think I want to advance it a little more and I am out of adjustment. What's the easiest way to advance the IP a tooth or two? I was planning to mark the belt and IP pully but wasn't quite sure which direction I need to move it. thanks in advance.

    B4V with timing issues

Hey guys - Thanks for the information. I was able to get it timed. I loosened the fuel lines and tapped it all the way to the stop. It's now middle of the two upper lines. Sounds good!

    B4V with timing issues

Hi Windex, Thanks for the response. The timing mark is easy to see. I recently installed a new clutch/flywheel package. Reinstalled meant removing and starting over. I know it usually means I have something wrong. I've installed timing belts many times and this is the first time I have had...

    B4V with timing issues

I have been reading a lot of threads about timing issues. My problem is the error message on the timing graph. It reads "Timing is too advanced to be plotted!" I tried to retard the timing by moving the pump toward the radiator. When I do, the engine smokes, stumbles and stalls. I went back...

    B4V with alternator issues

Thanks Guys! It was right under my nose. Must have had a brain fart! They connected the output of the alternator to the double ended ground lug on the trans. Hopefully, it didn't damage my alternator. Thanks again!!

    B4V with alternator issues

After an engine swap, my alternator has stopped charging. The red dash light is on. Not sure if it is related to the swap. Anyway, pulled the alternator and had it checked. It passed. I have checked the grounds I've been able to find. The voltage to the alternator case is the same as the...

Various B4/B4V parts in Central KY

I guess I didn't explain the temp/fan. I actually need the user controls, fan/temp/diverter controls. Mine has a broken cable stop and I have not found a fix that will last.

Are 1Z and AHU engines interchangeable?

Guys, Thanks so much for all the input! I was able to find a low mileage(91K) 1Z with trans so the install should be straight forward. Now the question is what to do to it while it is on the garage floor. I just read a current thread for a 97 going into a Sidekick with a lot of...

Are 1Z and AHU engines interchangeable?

Thanks for the input! I found a lower mileage 96 engine. Is there a ID number on the engine to confirm its a 1Z?

Are 1Z and AHU engines interchangeable?

I have a 96 B4V that blew a heater core. I replaced it and now the engine is blowing antifreeze out of the reservoir under load. So I guess I blew a head gasket or warped the head. The 1Z has 313K on it. I found a lower mileage AHU and am considering the swap. Is it a direct swap/drop in or...

    Ecu question

Since you are discussing ECUs, I have a GQ in my 96 B4V with a 1Z. I found a lower mileage AHU that I would like to drop in. What problems should I expect using the GQ?
