Android Head Unit - Adapter for KEY1 & KEY2 for Steering wheel controls

Nope, it doesn't usually shut the radio off when I remove the key, but it does always shut off when I remotely lock the car. I may contact Crutchfield to see if they have anything to say about the unit.

Android Head Unit - Adapter for KEY1 & KEY2 for Steering wheel controls

I think it’s actually working correctly. When I’ve been driving the car and remove the key it shuts off. When it seems to stay on is where I turned the key to accessory mode and turned it on, but never started the car. When I have been driving and pull the key out the doors unlock, but not when...

Android Head Unit - Adapter for KEY1 & KEY2 for Steering wheel controls

So far everything is working great. I installed the Sony headunit and the Axess adapter. I haven't tried to measure current draw when not in use yet but functionally it does what I want, I think. When I get out of the car the stereo stays on until I lock the car with the fob but I wouldn't be...

Android Head Unit - Adapter for KEY1 & KEY2 for Steering wheel controls

Thanks for the feedback. I have some unlabeled black CarPlay adapter for Android that uses this AutoPlay app (I got the head unit and dongle from Avin USA) in my E46 and have been fairly happy with it. Ended up getting my sister a Sony XAV-AX150 or something like that, was the cheapest CarPlay...

Android Head Unit - Adapter for KEY1 & KEY2 for Steering wheel controls

@Nuje How are things working out? My sister wants CarPlay in her 2004 Jetta so I'm looking for something like this. I have an Avin Avant 4 (Android unit) in my 2001 BMW 325i and it's working really well with a CarPlay dongle. I can't seem to find more-common names for Android units of the...

2006 Golf TDI What is it?

Just don't get the "sport" TC dampers. I have those on my stock TDI Golf and it's too rough. I'm sure they're better if you get stiffer springs, but on the stock springs it is a bit uncomfortable for me. Wishing I would have splurged for the Koni FSDs. I also did all new bushings, shock mounts...

Exhaust fumes from under the hood and noise when start cold

I just had my flex pipe replaced for the same reason at a muffler shop for $325 CAD.

    '01 Jetta TDi exhaust leak

My flex pipe was leaking pretty bad on my 2002 Golf so I had a good muffler shop weld in a new flex pipe for $325 CAD (after tax). Probably could have done it a bit cheaper if I bought parts myself (they bought a new gasket for $6, old one probably would have been fine, they also charged $60 for...

    A/C quit

@DanG144: Thank you so much for your troubleshooting document! My AC stopped working at the end of a road trip last weekend and I went out and bought a recharge kit before I stumbled upon your document. According to your instructions I checked out the green fuse above the battery and sure...

warm engine gets colder while idling?

Geepers! Having never been in a cold climate like that myself I didn't know. I know it doesn't take much fuel to spin the engine at idle, but still, I have a hard time believing that the heat more heat is leaving through exhaust and radiation from the block alone than is being injected with...

Shaking main beam when hitting bumps

Are they OEM lights? My sister's Jetta has some cheap aftermarket lights and the inside reflector was never connected properly with the adjustment screws. The lights always stay pointed too low and I had to install some spacers under the reflectors to keep them up to the right height. Even then...

Engine wont turn well with wrench on Crank shaft

No, there are no marks on the cam pulley as it is removed from the cam when installing a new timing belt. You would remove valve cover and get the cam at TDC for #1 cylinder. Then check if the crank is at TDC via the window in the transmission bell housing.

    Koni FSD's

I replaced the shocks on my Golf with Bilstein Touring Class about 6 months ago and they were extremely stiff for the first 1000 KM's or so, then softened up substantially. However, they are still much more stiff than stock and I wish I would have gotten something softer (I got the TC sport...

How to re-code ECU for use in another car?

The only thing you REALLY need are the pin codes from each ECU (both old and new). Then just plug the new one in and follow the instructions that Seatman gave in his link.

Check your radiator/condenser fan operation NOW

Thanks to the OP for this thread. My large driver side fan hasn't been working so I followed the PDF to the T and had the same problem where my brushes would no longer slide smoothly and weren't touching the commutator anymore. After doing all this it works perfectly, better than the other fan...

Golf IV ASR upgrade to ESP

You will need a new ABS pump, Brake booster (I think), master cylinder (I think), Steering angle sensor G85, Lateral motion sensor, ESP button, some wiring and programming. I wrote an article about how I installed mine. You may need a newer ECU. At least in North America, a 2002 ECU will not...

newbie with a w8 cluster question

Yes, my 2002 Golf worked fine with the doors/hood/trunk opening showing on my FIS cluster as soon as I installed it. There were no other modifications or programming things I had to do in order to get that part functioning.

    Drivers airbag didn't deploy

That was a great read. The logic on page 28 completely matches the situation my sister was in. Thanks for providing that.

    Drivers airbag didn't deploy

It's not that I'm asking because I'm angry that it didn't deploy. Rather, I'm curious about the logic inside the airbag controller.
