Does anyone know the difference between HB rear springs and GSW? I am trying to a new GSW for the added volume, because I feel the HB rear suspension is overwhelmed with 1 passenger in the rear seat, and luggage. Is the GSW better in that regard, or does it have the same parts on a bigger car?
I received a trade in offer of $19,100 for my '15 Golf TDI SE, man, lighting package, with 15k miles and some hail damage. This was from a Nissan dealer and they haven't seen the car yet (they are aware of the hail damage).
Considering they haven't seen the vehicle, aren't a VW dealer, have to...
From Horn's statement:
"In Volkswagen’s recent ongoing discussions with the regulators, we described to the EPA and CARB that our emissions control strategy also included a software feature that should be disclosed to and approved by them as an auxiliary emissions control device (“AECD”) in...
This is from Michael Horn's statement to congress. It reads to me like they rescinded the original application, and are working on a new certification, NOT cancelling the 2016.
"In Volkswagen’s recent ongoing discussions with the regulators, we described to the EPA and CARB that our emissions...
Right there with you. We were looking a few months ago, but there is effectively no documented 'blue book' for a used 2015 yet, so they low balled me at the time.
I do think the current valuation are based on panic selling and dealers unwilling to take on risk. I'm not personally panicking, but...
True story. 'Up to 40x' means rarely this much, probably not even 1/4 of that for most people. And that's just for CARB emissions, not EPA.
But which is more likely to kill you? NOX from a VW or a gas leak (Mazda 3), locking up front wheels (Honda Fit), random ignition failures (GM), stuck...
I couldn't believe how busy the dealer was yesterday. The salesman I have been working with had basically no time for me. He handed me keys, threw a plate on the car and walked away. "Take it on the usual test drive loop, or not, wherever you like!"
If the 'bonus' is having the same affect at...
I'd second that. It's classic panic mentality. I was checking in out of curiosity, and because they have the exact model/options/color I want on the lot. I actually tried the same thing a few months ago, but we were about $1000 from having it make sense. I figured I would see if the bonus would...
I wouldn't trust KBB too much. Dealers use this to sell cars, not buy/value cars.
The most accurate value is wholesale auctions (which is usually limited to dealers). Second to that, I would try NADA.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is with pre-adblue models, which they believe will need an expensive retrofit. Comparatively, they said my MK7 shouldn't need that, so the $1500 adjustment was high. They said they would get back to me, since my car is too new so they don't know what...
I did check with the dealer last night, to see if it's worth trading to a GSW. Yeah, there is a $2000 bonus, but the dealer said they are dinging trade ins by $1500+ compared to blue book. So really you are still worse off, and the dealer is the only one that benefits (unless you are trading in...
Comic relief. I'm not clear if they want MSRP for an 8yr old model, or just storage, but I am glad they invited a reporter to drop off a car at the mechanic.

I found a surprising number of VW wheels on Craigslist. That said, I am happy with my Sparcos. They fit perfectly, and even if their was an issue, it would be cheaper to replace them at 1/3 of the OEM price.
Autoblog has an article that mentions NOx filtration vs urea injection. My takeaway was that mk7 should be OK since it has the adblue. What am I missing?
