Was the problem with yours just that the motor was allowing the flap to exceed the tolerances? Mine seems like the motor has completely failed. I’ve ran the output test in VCDS, VCDS displays that it should be going “on/off”, but I’m seeing no movement from the arm extension from the motor at all.

Very likely just bad luck. 163,000 miles is a pretty good haul for these DPF’s.

Are you using VCDS as the scan tool for determining the number of regens that have been performed? IMO, VCDS is by far the most reliable and accurate diagnostic software for VW’s. All others are very prone to inaccurate readings and data reporting.

I concur. I would not purchase a used vehicle without connecting a simple OBDII scanner so I could confirm how many miles it had been driven since the last time the MIL codes were cleared.

The “renewable” diesel specified in this thread is different from B20. Yes B20 is part biodiesel, but the “renewable” diesel, such as the type Costco and 76 sell is a bit different.

Either way, the new Jettas are very fuel efficient gassers. With prudent driving practices I could have easily achieved a 45-48mpg avg.

I’ve started using Castrol 5w-30 K the last two changes because my local store stopped carrying the Mobil 1 ESP. Anecdotally, I find no difference in performance or engine sound.

That’s not a TDI though 😉. But yes, I had a 2024 Jetta on loaner from the dealership; same engine, and I was equally impressed. I’m a “drive it like you stole it” guy, and still averaged 35mpg over 1200 miles worth of driving.
