    Autoban to have speed limits?

If anyone is interested, here is an excerpt and link explaining Fourdiesel's point: There's an elephant in global warming's living room that few in the mainstream media want to talk about : the creators of the carbon credit scheme are the ones cashing in on it. The two cherub like choirboys...

Slower speed will get you there faster?

The March 2007 issue of Reader's Digest states: "Once you top 55 to 60 mph, fuel efficiency dips sharply. And if you have to keep stopping to fill up, you won't get where you're going quicker anyway." Well, for my wife's Jetta TDI, we make a trip to Marble Falls Texas from Tennesee, which is a...

Heater switch light bulb replacement 'How to'

Good info, Wingnut. I changed my second bulb on a 2004 TDI today. Do these bulbs only last about a year...that seems like a short life for a dash bulb? I might add that you can use a rubber pad (used for jar lid loosening) for switch removal to get at the bulb rather than pliers. I can't...

How to Remove Paint Overspray from Jetta?

I worked for a guy who sprayed polyurethane on buildings. The overspray could reach cars that came too near. He told me that if someone complained, he offered to pay to have the car buffed. That would work if the car had a coat of wax on it. This is one reason to keep a good coat of wax on...

    My TDI *must* be broken

When our 2004 Jetta TDI auto trans. was new I drove it very carefully and got close to 50 mpg on the highway. Now, I drive it like I want to and get about 45 on the highway, and 35 in town. If my wife drives she can get 50 on the highway.

smell antifreeze when hood is opened

I like to open the hood of my 2004 Jetta TDI (27,000 miles) when I park it since the weather is so hot. I usually get a distinct antifreeze odor. The antifreeze level stays constant in the overflow container and I've never added any. I assume antifreeze is seeping very slowly form somewhere...

It takes the cab a while to warm up in cold weather. This is one thing I don't like about the TDI.

Suggestions for new wheels and performance tires?

Andrew, thanks for the helpful info. I have wondered about the taller wheels with not as much tire to protect them. Is that why you don't like the 17" because the rims are more easily damaged by pot holes? Thanks for the great links, too!
