RNS510 error and description of how to fix.

Not sure how I got so lucky, but just had to do this on my '15 . . . Found the actual 5382 SWL disk from a VW parts house for $15 . . . an hour to load that, and then found that all internal (non HDD) memory had wiped - lost presets, destinations, config *AND* coding. Recoded from old VCDS saved...

    Dealership Passat Battery Install

Be afraid! We had had a battery replaced under warranty, iirc, on my 2013 way back when, and it just went out again recently. Went to change it and found that the lazy useless *#**@#*# that put it in the last time was too lazy to bother with the clamp and bolt . . . the battery was being held...

Battery Replaced - Check Engine Light On

On my 2013 Passat TDI SEL that I just fed a battery (dead while out . . .) all it took was the lock to lock on the steering, and then all codes cleared sitting in the driveway, unmoved, and have been good to go since then. Ended up doing this twice (first removal of the battery revealed that...

Passat SEL - how to improve seat comfort?

We have a 2013 and a 2015 SEL, and I find that I can do 12 hours a day for multiple days with zero discomfort, so I guess it's more of a "butt to seat interface" think and not the seats themselves . . . Same for my wife. Sorry . . .

7 hours? You can keep it! 250 miles on the Interstate system for me is closer to 3, and *zero* need to stop . . .

    09 Jetta AC Receiver Drier

The issue is mainly the dessicant jn the drier getting moisture in it when the system is open to change the comp, and about the only was to even think about that would be to remove, oull a vacuum on, and cap the existing drier, which is more work than replacing it. On the more practical note...

    DRL Day time running lights.

Everyone has the right to be wrong, and apparently you are excercising that right . . . Anyone who deliberately steps into a road without being 100% certain it is clear and safe has *NOBODY* to blame but themself!

    DRL Day time running lights.

Zero accidents of any kind in 53 years of driving, proof that a functional brain trumps namby tech . . . Sorry, but dumbing things down never results in anything other than even dumber drivers . . .

    DRL Day time running lights.

Exactly! Namby "features" breed complacency, and complacency kills! Driver licensing has become a joke, and *that* is the real problem . . .

    DRL Day time running lights.

If a pedestrian is that stupid, namby tech is not the answer . . . Perhaps a helmet?

    DRL Day time running lights.

Gladly! Mine are disabled, and will stay that way! If driving at that time, more brain, less namby is the solution. Namby leads to complacency, which kills by itself! If you can't see far enough to guarantee it's clear, then you don't pull out . . . it really is that simple . . .

    OBD2 output to RNS 510?

Agree.Video in motion required little more than burning an image file to a CD and stuffing it in the slot as I recall . .

    OBD2 output to RNS 510?

Without Sirius, you lose the ability to 'live route' around changing traffic conditions, which the RNS does quite well. The RNS has lifetime traffic, iirc, so even if you find a another source, and a unit that will do it, it's a rebuy . . . 2 - MFD is the term that is being elusive. 6 - With...

    DRL Day time running lights.

Because airbags, antilock, seatbelts etc. actually enhace driver safety, whereas DRL's just make some idiot beurocrat feel good about itself, while (for the majority of driving) having *zero* possibility of doing anything but wasting power and bulbs? We have brains, we can turn the lights on as...

    DRL Day time running lights.

My Volvo had a slotted screw head swith on the dash to do just that (doumented in the owners manual) and both our Passats have it in the MFD as a per-driver settable feature, so wrong at least 2x.. . . They are *NOT* legaly required in the US . . .

    OBD2 output to RNS 510?

If OBD even gives you what you want . . . compared to the VAG protocol, it's pretty close to useless . . .

Electric vehicles (EVs), their emissions, and future viability

Apparently you have never done networking in the real world or professionally. Latency *KILLS* throughput in higher speed networks. Even 1 or 2 ms is detrimental, 600 unusable just about across the board, and 30ms only tolerable at slow speeds (such as most internet services) Get to actual high...

One fob toots horn, the other doesn't...

In the Passat, on the MFD. A lot of settings are unique to the fob that unlocked the car. Lock/unlock, lighting prefs, etc. are per fob . . .

Passat TDI (2012-2014) over 80mph post fix

Note, mine was not "re"flashed, but flashed with a new, specific version to fix this (as per the TSB cited above, and it's a fix, not a workaround), and sustained over 80MPH on a few cross country toll roads support that it worked. Don't know what to tell you, other that that fix has worked for...

There could be a million, and the latency of the long haulup and back will still be a problem. TCP/IP just does not run well on high latency connections . . .
