My Old '98 Jetta TDI Alternator Has Finally Died At 25 Years Old!

My son has had the old girl in CA for quite some time. It has 280K+ miles. The car has been phenomenally bulletproof! The best investment I ever made in a car. In fact, the A/C compressor was the 1st thing of significance to go bad, and it failed after 7 years and 180K miles (we live in FL...

Can someone explain to me the whole service interval wrench and when to change oil?

I changed our 1998 Jetta TDI every 20,000 miles per oil analysis. It now has around 270,000 miles and runs great!

At What Typical RPM Do You Typically (Manually) Shift You 8-Speed?

Just curious. My similar 6-speed BMW X5 3.0L d35, I typically upshifted to next higher gear at 1,700 RPM. I've been shifting my new (to me) 2012 Touareg 3.0 8 speed at 1,750. How about you manually shifting? The torque curve indicates it should be fine when it drops down to around 1,400 RPM...

    2012 Executive realistic price

I just bought a one owner, VW buyout 2012 Touareg TDI Sport w/only 80K miles from a VW dealership for $15,800. $27K seems HIGH. With THAT low miles, might have been all/mostly city miles which is not good on a vehicle (lots of short trips not fully warming engine).

Just Got A Touareg TDI Fresh From VW, Not Have A CEL Code P20EE/$077E!!!

After approx. 250 miles of driving off from dealership with a 2012 in like new condition & 80K miles, A CEL light came on, and when I scanned it with my Schwaben (Foxwell) scanner I find I have a P20EE/$07E code, meaning "NOX Catalyst efficiency below threshold". I reset it and will see if it...

    Just Got A "New" TDI!!!

:D:D:D Had our 1998 Jetta TDI since 12/97, and my son now has it in LA area with around 270,000 miles. We were at TDI Fest in 2000 in Wilmington. A few years later, added a used Y2K Beetle TDI. Sold it Beetle some time ago, as it was a bit problematic. Then around Spring 2015, we got a nice...

In Retrospect. Why could it not have gone this way?

I do not recall reporting mileage for the Loyalty Cards.

In Retrospect. Why could it not have gone this way?

I got the $500 general credit (to be used anywhere) and the $500 dealer credit (which was TOTALLY used up for our 120,000 mile service) some time ago, and REALLY appreciate it. Got over $2000 for we paid for our '09 Jetta (3 years prior) in the buy back PLUS the $1,000 cards for a total of...

Dealer hints at retention rate for tdi customers, also increasing sales, supply issue

In our case, had the difference between the cash-to-keep and the buyout amounts been not nearly so HUGE ($7,600), we would have definitely KEPT our 2009 Jetta TDI w/123,000 miles. I suspect the HUGE differences were the reason that most all gave up their beloved TDIs.
