Can you intentionally turn on the CEL?

Don't know what the original code was, it was cleared before I found out about the situation. My brother was trying to drive-to-cause-a-code, I recommended against that for obvious reasons. So I guess he's hoping that it trips again before the warranty expires at the end of December.

Can you intentionally turn on the CEL?

Yep, you already nailed it. Expected to be ~$1,000 worth of work... or $0 if under warranty.

Can you intentionally turn on the CEL?

My brother has a 2006 Audi A4 which has a problem with the fuel pump. A friend took it apart and found the problem. He then re-assembled, and "un-flashed" the engine since it had been chip tuned but was still under warranty. Now the fault codes are cleared, and the dealer mechanic won't do any...

    Lift pump installed, holy crap!!!!

TNguy, Great stuff, very much appreciated. That's pretty definitive, I'd never considered what would happen if the LP failed, I guess in an ALH that's not as big of a problem. As long as I'm doing a new LP upgrade, I guess I might as well do the LP-T-Bypass improvement before I drop it in the...

Life Pump Upgrade, will fuel flow without power connected?

Alchemist, This is the pump I bought from Bora Parts, it's white. My original "Fuel sending unit" from the 2003 Golf doesn't have a motor/pump of any kind, the IP draws fuel through but there's no pressure from the tank forward. That original unit is light tan in color...

    Lift pump installed, holy crap!!!!

Will fuel flow through the PD lift pump if the power isn't connected? Cross-posting here, http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=450137 I'm upgrading to the lift pump in my 2003 Golf 5M with 167,000 miles, and I'm curious if the pump will allow fuel to flow through before I get the wiring...

Life Pump Upgrade, will fuel flow without power connected?

Question: Will the PD lift pump operate (allow fuel to flow) without the electrical wiring connected? I know it won't pump, but will the IP have enough suction to draw fuel from the tank and have the engine run normally? This is for a 2003 Golf 5M with 167,000 miles. I'm working on a lift pump...

    Sunroof Malfunction, 2003 Golf 4dr

Symptoms on mine have decreased to the point where I can't remember the last time it happened. I've been actuating the roof, both vent and full open, more now that the weather is either nice enough to be open, or hot enough to need venting. I didn't actually do any work, but don't think any...

    Omaha, NE chat thread

Exactly. We discussed this at DCOTC 13, maybe you were even standing there at the time with Losha and Scottdi (my brother). I'd really like to get that feature on my Golf... if it even exists, which Losha assured us all it does not.

    Omaha, NE chat thread

Thanks to everyone who visited the Omaha Biofuels Coop last weekend, and for the help with my car. For anyone who has followed OBC for a while, you know we've had basically continual location difficulties. Well... we're going to be moving. Again. Next weekend. The new location is at 49th & F...

Words of wisdom for oil pan replacement

I tried that once already, I guess technically it was JB Kwik. I'm told the actual JB Weld is incredibly tough, it was recommended as a potential answer for re-threading the rivet nut in my skid plate which got stripped (inside threads failed) during the install. Maybe since I now have two...

Words of wisdom for oil pan replacement

I've been looking around... is there a standard "How To" for the A4 oil pan replacement? Mine has a pin prick leak, which is now more pronounced after the oil change I did last weekend. Not sure how the ding got there. I've already upgraded to the Atlas skid plate from Bora, I don't want to be...

GTG: DCOTC 13, Omaha NE at the Omaha Biofuels Coop - June 14, 2014

Thanks for coming out everyone, and for all the help with my BIOGOLF. A few items remain still on the To Do list, but I'm in much better shape than I was yesterday. We should do it again, maybe even before winter. Losha and I will be working on a TB job some time, maybe I can talk him into...

GTG: DCOTC 13, Omaha NE at the Omaha Biofuels Coop - June 14, 2014

Mrrogers1, You mentioned the possibility of Losha doing some Malone tuning at the GTG. Have you got an update on that? I actually do need that work done, and would probably pair with new nozzles since I did the VNT17 and the 11mm IP a few years ago. If the tuning will come to me, that's much...

GTG: DCOTC 13, Omaha NE at the Omaha Biofuels Coop - June 14, 2014

Excellent, we'll plan to work on June 14th starting around 9am. We should start a work list, so we know who will be doing what. MrErlo - install aluminum skid plate - examine front left wheel, suspension/steering seems loose and crappy lately - (possibly others, I'm doing an oil change this...

GTG: DCOTC 13, Omaha NE at the Omaha Biofuels Coop - June 14, 2014

The Coop would really like to go with June 13, 14 since that Friday is our 6th Anniversary. We were planning an Open House for people to see the new vegetable oil processing and storage location. There's PLENTY of space to work, since the entire site is just a big asphalt slab...

Air in Fuel System but no Visible IP Head Seal Leak

I managed to track down my previous work on the fuel sending unit, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with how much documentation I did 5+ years ago. Air in Fuel System but no Visible IP Head Seal Leak

I had a problem in my Jetta back... maybe 5 years ago leading to un-priming of the fuel system. The small seal at the bottom of the fuel sending unit became brittle, and the "door" swung open allowing fuel to drain back into the fuel tank from the lines. That still means a de-pressurization...
