I pulled all the glowplugs at once, and only the #4 glowplug was wet, and only the #4 glowplug smelled like diesel. <this was before we took the oil pan off> (all the rest were dry, and didn't really smell like anything. Also we didn't notice any unusual tapping noises when attempting to...
I suspect it did hydrolock... fuel is my best guess due to the glowplug wet with diesel. I didn't find any chunks of metal in the oil pan, and the lifters/camshaft look fine along with the bearing.
If a valve caused the engine to bend something as thick as a rod, you would assume that that...

There wasn't excess oil in the intake, and no oil squirted out of the glow plug holes when turned over... #4 glow plug was wet when I pulled it... it smelled like diesel, and the other plugs dont.
Verdict
It looks like the rod is bent in #4. There is no end play in #4 connecting rod, the top of the rod looks like it is off a little to the side compared to the other 3. The bearings are in good shape, and the motor turns over.
The bearings are good, so the motor isn't 'toast'.. It should...
