I've done the TB job twice -used the Diesel Geek kit both times, mostly for the access to the excellent video. Also, both times and after when flushing the coolant, I've used Zerex G40, as I wanted to stay away from G13.

CKRA engine is known to eat fuel injectors. Best to just replace them if they are popping the P1004-P1007 code. I don't think anyone is rebuilding them as they are <$200 each. You will VCDS or other program to run adaptation on each new injector.

Mine came stock with 18" rims. Tire size is 235/45R18.

Did you check the wiring harness? I had this happen when 1 of the wires was rubbing against the HPFP and eventually wore completely through.

I don't know if cycling the key runs both fuel pumps (in-tank lift pump and auxiliary pump). It may still be a fueling issue. Since you have VCDS, I would check the actual output of both pumps by running each output test with the discharge line in a container, to see how fast they pump. I...

Thanks for the update! Looks like I will have to at least change the thermostat once the weather cools down. Question, how much stuff did you find in the intercooler, EGR, intake? If it wasn't much, then I will probably leave that alone.

You are right to suspect your valve cover leaking (mine is too). However, you absolutely should purge air out of the fuel system whenever it is opened. VCDS of course can do this, and it is well worth the cost if that helps protect your HPFP from grenading. There may be a way to safely jump...
