You don't think about how often you actually use it but it does get a fair amount of wear/usage. I don't know what they go for now but it was worth the $130 and 20 minutes it took to replace it. Mine wanted to try and start and turn off like an immobilizer issue.

For as much of a pain in the rear as they are to change, I would just get OEM. They are something I personally don't care to do more than once.

That is the diesel engine the B5.5 Passats came with in the US. We didn't get the options that other parts of the world got.
