Sorry that sounded like quitter talk, I'm getting a bit frustrated with this car is all. I'm having trouble getting a mobile mechanic to come look at the car, mot either diagnosing on the phone or refusing to come out because it is an electrical problem. This car has really ate a lot of cash...

WTB: ECU for 2000 VW Beetle 1.9L TDI automatic

Argh! I spent $3500 on it last summer for serious engine overhaul work and I can't afford another multi-thousand dollar job to diagnose and fix a tricky electrical glitch. should i just sell it for parts then???

WTB: ECU for 2000 VW Beetle 1.9L TDI automatic

This is what I got told by a couple different mechanics over the phone when i called about the issue. When i hook up the battery and try to start the car, the speedo gauge goes nuts and the locks go nuts and a lot of interior and indicator lights flash and then i get a beeping. How would I go...

WTB: ECU for 2000 VW Beetle 1.9L TDI automatic

My ECU got fried by a "helpful" coworker who gave me a jump and connected the jumper cables backwards. I can't afford a new one at over $1000, so I'm wondering if anyone has one from a car that's being parted out or knows of a place I could order one. eBay doesn't have any for a TDI right now...

    Serious power loss problem!!

Serious power loss problem!! UPDATE my 2000 new beetle tdi was at the shop a couple months ago to fix a turbo problem (a valve was stuck). Since then, the car has had poor power performance. We attributed it to perhaps the shop reset the computer to stock and the car isn't stock. it has PP357...

    2000 beetle engine issue!!!

Thanks for the help DeafBug. Well, the way the engine was sounding,t he shop was convinced it was internal and had the camshaft out and everything checking. They were very nice and only charged me for the part and the labor to put things back together, so i saved a good $600 in labor or more...

I'm not sure what they loosened, i'm assuming the fan. perhaps a pressure relief valve failure? they were able to start the car, hose blew off at acceleration. They seem pretty clueless at this point, or they no longer want the task since they think it has nothign to do with their previous...

    2000 beetle engine issue!!!

UPDATE: Got a call from the shop. they suspect the turbo. they said it was completely seized. they were able to loosen it and had the car running, but said that if you rev the engine, it creates so much pressure that it blows a hose off (repeatedly). They let me knwo they are in over their...
