I have used Seafoam with great resulsts in my Camry and small engines, but I will never put it in my Diesels or chainsaws.
(unless its is proven to be ok for the fuel system)
I'm worried enough about all the alcahol there putting in the gas.
I have always liked the fuel mileage that I could get out of the diesels not to mention the torque. My first diesel was an 81 4X4 Isuzu Pup that would get up 36 MPG on the road that is if you could keep your foot out of it. That 50 hp engine was scary fast. LOL
My next diesel was a 14 hp...
Congratulations on your CTD! It was night and day difference in sound, when I first added 2-stroke oil in my 91 CTD.
Almost like someone put about ten blankets over the engine.
Got about 52 K on the OEM Conti’s with about 5-10 K miles left on them.
Great tire for traction on wet and dry surfaces, crappy on the snow ok for wear.
I will probably go with Michelins next time, one Conti died early because of a rock.
My fuel mileage drops considerably in the summer, I’m sure air density has a lot to do with it, but I would bet the A/C hurts it more. My A/C drops fuel mileage a lot.
I drove a friend’s car the other day; it had a mileage computer in it, the mileage would drop 6 mpg when I switched the A/C on...
Keep it up and you won’t have anytime for my car.
Ouch! $3k would hurt. It wouldn’t be so bad but there are a lot of people that buy VW because of the looks/cuteness. (That’s why my wife wanted it,) I said sure!
The reason I was so happy was because she could get one with a diesel. But I’m...
Your welcome Brian, one thing I will say about the Jetta is that it’s a blast driving.
I work in industrial maintenance and am pretty used to German/Italian built machines; they can make it pretty tough sometimes when performing preventive maintenance.
Guess that’s why I like my old 12 valve...
06 Jetta TDI/DSG 44,000 miles
Here is what happened when I needed my 40,000 mile DSG service.
My wife’s Jetta was getting close to 40k so I started reading about the 40k DSG service.
I read the how to but I don’t have the VagCom yet or the extra money to get one, so
I called the VW service...
oilhammer just serviced my DSG, give me a week and I’ll let you know if I can tell any differences.
My wife drives the Jetta 99.9% of the time, so it maybe at least a week before I can get a chance on the hills.
I had to replace one of the Conti’s on my wife’s car because sharp rock took it out; I replaced it with a Hankook Optimo H418.
It cost me around $60.00 and is the spare looks like a decent tire though.
I really like the grip of the Conti’s but there snow/ice traction is not good enough for...

If your happy with the 05 then get one, then if you like the 08 better trade or sell the 05.
One thing I have found out in life is that when I wait for the newer/better model I am always disappointed with what the manufacturers lay on the table.
I bought my wife’s 06 Jetta because we couldn’t...
Yeah I can get a 5 gallon bucket under it to drain the oil without ramps to, but I just needed a little more room to get the oil plug off. Needless to say I will probably make a set.
