Well, the locks started working again. All I did was to pull the fuses out and put them back in. Maybe that fixed it???
Anyway, I want to offer my sincere thanks to all the dozens of forum members who offered so many helpful suggestions.
There are more explanations for low boost than a bad turbo. Most people I have talked to expect their A-4 turbos to last much more than 75-100K. My 2000 Jetta is at 130K and my 2003 is at 80K and neither needs or has needed a new turbo. I did have over and under boost problems a few years...
To follow up, I checked the fuses inside the car and no problems were there.
Then, for no reason I can tell, the locks and security system suddenly started working again. Anyone have a clue about what is going on?
My door locks and alarm system just stopped working. Pushing the buttons on the key does nothing. The internal lock/unlock button does nothing. The doors do not lock once I get rolling. Everything else works. I checked the "Cent. locks" using VAGCOM and I get a message that says...
No, MBoni, it most definately not bullcrap. We are clearly in a cooling trend.
It may not be reported in the "news", but it is there nonetheless.

I'd rather figure out a way to repaint them. I hate the thought of "rewarding" VW for this low durability surface treatment by buying more of the same crap.
It wasn't the oil companies that kept the 2005 Jetta out of California. It isn't the oil companies that prevent the 2005 technology Jetta from being sold in all 50 states today. The world has a lot of problems. If the only thing you can say about the world's problems today is that they are...
The driver side door lock knob won't go down unless you insert the key and turn it. The key fob will activate the alarm system and the other three lock knobs will go down. All knobs go up when you unlock remotely using the key. So, when I get out of the car and push the button on the key, the...
I bought an '88 caravan w/ a 2.5L 4 and a 5 speed in '88. I kept the thing until about two years ago when I sold it to my handyman. He is still driving it. People forget how practical and reliable the original Chysler minivans were. They were simple and basic and WORKED. That was a real...
I've discussed this issue with a friend who is a chem. engineer working for a company that has a major refinery. He tells me that if there is a sustained shift in fuel demand there is no technical or economic reason why the ratio of production can't be altered. The European refiners haven't...
I've used DP and there seemed to be some improvement. It was hard to tell in my case as the engine was running well before.
My only comment is that the procedure outlined above is way too complicated. I bought some soft copper tubing, (3/8" iirc) and cut two pieces long enough to go from...
You might have a little trouble getting that question answered over here as most of the members are in N. America and we, sadly, don't get the 150 bhp tdi.
What does everyone recommend to do or at least check on a A4 when it hits 100K miles, aside from the obvious things like timing belts? Assume that nothing but routine maintenance has been done.
I have heard, although I have not tried it, that you can remove the nozzles from the nozzle body and clean them in one of those vibrating cleaners that jewelers use.
