    06 instrument cluster

So I put a salvage yard cluster in an 06 Beetle thinking that the cluster would get the mileage from the ECU. I was incorrect. Is there a way to enter the correct mileage with VAG com? The original mileage showed 66050 and the salvage one reads 155600.

Door Lock Modules - Dependable Replacement

I recently ordered 2 modules (for both front doors) from Amazon ($56) and installed them. I no longer have the issue of the Jetta randomly locking (I must have put up with this for 10 years😳). It has been about 1 month and they have been working fine. On a side note, when I lock the car I no...

? about vacuum system...sometimes it feels like no power brakes...

Chech the connection on the vacuum pump first. Use a mity vac and measure while you hold the nipple. When I checked mine, I was pushing the connector that was loose in so I was making it seal. When I pulled it out I lost vacuum. I had already replaced the vacuum booster (pia) then the big...

    A/C quit working

I had the same issue and it was the magnetic coil. Bought a compressor at the salvage yard for $50. Bought a good snap ring pliers, dropped the a/c on the Jetta and had the coil replaced and back running in 2 hours with good results,

What did you do to your MKIV today?

After 345k miles and about 2 years of having overboost codes (resulting in limp mode) I purchased a new turbo from IDParts. Had it installed and picked it up to find out I had no power. Long story short, ended up replacing Orem vacuum hoses (that were only 5 years old) with silicone hoses. Jetta...

Probably preaching to the choir but .....

Just dawned on me that I have been a member for almost 20 years! I agree with the comment that not enough members tell how good their car has been. Part of my lack of participation for comments is due to the generational gap of an alh vs newer models that I have no knowledge about. I will help...

New Beetle 1.9TDI 90hp Yellow Oil Light on startup

Good find! Did you figure out why the fuses blew? Next thing to correct is to change the oil to 5w-40 full synthetic vs the 5w-30 Castro that is in the engine. Search engine oil for educational purposes.

Dash lights shutting off when using heat!

Update on dash lights shutting off. I had a chance to do some checking after I finally removed the cup holder radio(pita)and storage compartment. Went for drive today to warm it up and check dash lights. Lights started to flicker so I pulled over. As I looked in the cavity area, I noticed a...

Dash lights shutting off when using heat!

I have been having an issue with the dash lights shutting off when the heat is turned on. When I turn to cool, they will come back on. I have replaced the head light switch and also the dash dimmer switch thinking they were overheating. Still happening when turned to heat. I did find out that...

A/C repair on 2000 Jetta tdi

Good to know. A few people told me that they would switch out the complete unit but because the one opening was not plugged, I didn’t want to risk contaminating the system. Btw, you should stay on this site. Your knowledge and input is important as long as readers know how to glean the...

A/C repair on 2000 Jetta tdi

A/C went out at 337k. Read through trouble shooting thread and determined that I had 2 issues. First was the small passenger fan was not running (original and had not checked operation lately). Ordered and replaced and moved on to 2nd problem. A/C clutch was not engaging. Watched a good YouTube...
