'11 TDI Purchase Question –*Am I Crazy?

I've got a 2013 Touareg TDI. I love the car. I just bought a 2003 Beetle TDI to have it towed directly to a mechanic to spend an additional $3K on it for timing belt, CV boots/joints, and other miscellaneous stuff. I spent $3K on the Touareg last year to 'fix' the nox issues and its the best...

    sorry TDI... bye bye

Well, its sold.. the mechanic bought it from me. I bought a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro, and I'm having the same mechanic do the APR chip/flash on it...so I'm happy. I've gotten rid of both my B5.5 Passat TDI and 2000 Jetta TDI now, and no regrets. They served me well, but I dont really miss...

    sorry TDI... bye bye

1600 for seal, water pump, 100K belt, pullys, tensioner.. blah blah.. I cant really complain too much the guy really knows his stuff, cares, and can answer any questin TDi. I trust him, and he has to pay rent and his people...so sometimes you just get what you pay for. People may do it cheaper...

    sorry TDI... bye bye

Mechanic wants $1000 to reseal the pump, and I'm thinking about doing that and selling it running.. seems they go for around 4K when running.. that makes the most sense.. says he needs to remove the pump, timing.. all that stuff...

    sorry TDI... bye bye

2000 tdi auto.. I sure did plan on keeping this car, but I just can't justify it anymore. Last week it would not start, and it turns out the seals in the pump need replacing, and its due for a timing belt in about 4K. And, with the 01M transmission creeping up since its got 155K miles... I...

Anybody still do the vnt tuning?

So here on Freds/tdiclub we managed to run off one of the origional techies/tuning rebels... thats comforting. I've been having to do google searches to find his posts, and they are still pretty darn informative. He should come back, but he probably imports diesel audis and bmw for mods...

Anybody still do the vnt tuning?

I remember a member named SkyPup first doing this, but I cant find him in the searches anymore. Anybody still lengthen the vnt for a little extra boost, and anybody know what happened to SkyPup?... he used to post some of the most informative posts.

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

Festivus.. I'm not going to talk to you anymore about this. The evidence is in my favor, and I feel you are delusional.

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

We all know they did not come up with that and sometimes it does take quite an effort to reverse engineer or reinvent something. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3714915773070875078&q=passat+park&ei=rlyBSKifIpiYrAOmreCZBw&hl=en correct about not thinking before you type.. we caught you...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

Sweet.. Oilhammer, I got a toyota fork lift you could also work on then (but I would not subject you to that level). Maybe for next years model they'll install a pleather wrapped wheel and levers and call it a "Lexus" model. bwahahahaha.. for the high-end warehouse worker. Maybe they will...

    I love my B5.5!

yep, good car, zf tranny.. pretty rock solid. I do however dislike the pd system, as I'd rather replace the nozzles which basically brings the engine back to new. Seems it was never worth the effort on pd passat I had. If anybody is looking for a great B5.5 in the houston area I just traded in...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

yea, but I paid 10-13K less for my passat... And, when that grocery cart comes and slams my passat I wont cry about it; I'll just hook up the vag-com and activate the NiTi alloy to pop it out. :o After all.. as a VW owner you gotta love playing with the car... I think thats the major factor...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

festivus.. Thats easy, once you drive the new camry or accord.. you'll come back to VW. Sure the toyota may run forever, but I hate the tonka toy feel the interior has. As for accord, they feel anemic to me, and I dont plan on putting any spoilers or vtec stickers anywhere. Its the same...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

oilhammer.. I agree with you 100%. My old 2000 jetta has a little rust and is definitely not looking so "new" but its a great car in 2000 TDI: -replaced the turbo -brakes pads, twice now -cleaned manifold (needs it again) -cleaned intercooler a couple of times -replaced brake booster as abs...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

They gave me a fair trade in price for the B5.5 and it needed obvious things like the windshield and tires, brakes.. so I did not feel like blowing the cash when I just spent 2k on the sunroof leak. In addition to that, I traded in an 06 Audi A3 3.2 sline quattro as well (loved that car).. so I...

bye bye TDI.. got new 3.6

Well.. had 80K+ on the passat. Was averaging around 32mpg mixed.. so not outstanding, but ok. needed: -new tires -struts -windshield -triptronic stopped working -sunroof leaked, fixed twice at around 2K total (nice smell that caused) -oddball rattles I was thinking I cant change the nozzles...

Do I need to replace compressor/dryer?

Hey..another A/C thread A/C stopped blowing cold. I notiece it started blowing warmer and warmer, and now its just no different than the fan. No strange noises, vibrations... it just seems to engage with compressor turning on, and then a nice warm air comes out 1) with engine off, fans turn...

this just happened to me as well. I opened the hood and the upper hose had a slit in it.. I'm hoping its pretty to replace myself..

For those with a LSD *AND* larger VR6 size axles

give them a call I'm sure they can answer just about anything about diffs. are you changing the diff yourself? I'm not sure what it takes, but I'd love to have TBD's in my jetta and b5.5 tdi. On wet/icy roads when isp kicks in its pretty jerky and a peloquin/quaife woud surely solve it.

    Aftermarket GPS

I just had the pioneer AVIC D1 installed in my 2000 JETTA TDI. I dont think there is one better after using it, and with the xmtraffic nav... it will probably be tops for a while. I was at the vw dealership today looking at the navs in the audis. Only acura and cadillac offer the xmtrafficnav as...
