l got my recall letter today. Came back to the forum to get details, out of curiosity. Even happier I sold my JSW. The forum for my new car is pretty much complaint and problem free. The topics are about the car, not problem after another.
I let my VW stand on it's own merits and never compared it to anything. I loved everything about it except it's reliability. I can afford an $80k car with little affect on my budget. But I chose the TDI for many of the same reasons you all did. Its fun to drive, practical, looks great, and is...
I stand by my statement. The Cayman, has 34k mi and has only had routine maintenance and tune-ups. The BMW was sold several years ago with 62k mi, zero problems.
I was about to defend my decision and comment on other posts. Point is, I don't really care. I no longer own a VW and never will...
I have never been relieved to be rid of a car until now. Someone asked, so here's a list of my previous cars. Virtually no dealer visits...
Previous cars, all bought new:
'11 JSW TDI - 4k mi
'09 Mercedes E320 Blutec (wifes) - still own
'06 Porsche Cayman - still own
'04 BMW 330i
'04 Nissan...
Because they were each different issues, my car did not meet the lemon law unfortunately. VW customer service wasn't much help either. I know there are many VW's without problems, but from my conversations in the service waiting room, my case wasn't too unusual. I liked it when it ran, but I am...
I have owned my 2011 JSW TDI since June 25th. Six trips to the dealer in 3.5 mos for adjustments and repairs on a car with 4000 mi are enough. After getting it back from it's sixth trip Friday, I traded it on a new car Saturday. My problems were: ABS light warnings with faulty sensors, Airbag...

Two recent changes to my car seem to have made a noticeable improvement to my fuel economy. I have made two recent trips from DFW to Lawrence, KS to oversee renovations to a house I own there. On my first trip I had Moda MD11 (21lbs) and 225/45/17 PZero Nero A/S. ~41 mpg round trip cruise mostly...
My JSW is at 4k mi. I just discovered a blown stock shock, passenger front, confirmed by mechanic. I am pretty sure it will be replaced under warranty.
This has got me thinking about possibly upgrading. Would upgrading to maybe a Bilstein HD and leaving the stock springs improve the ride...
Any amp with high level inputs will work. The front speakers in the JSW are a PITA and/or expensive to upgrade. I am using my 510 with an AudioControl EQX to my amps. I kept my stock door speakers. The EQX helps them sound alot better.
I have been thinking about it and to me this begs the question: Maybe this is an opportunity for an upgrade. I have done full spring/shock swaps in the past; H&R Cup Kit, Bilstein PSS9, Honda HFP, and Neuspeed. Would upgrading to maybe Bilstein shocks, leaving the stock springs make a noticeable...
My '11 JSW TDI has ~3600 mi. As I pulled into a driveway the today, the front right suspension didn't feel right. Further driving and inspection revealed a blown shock, fluid drips on the side of the shock. I have never hit any bumps or done anything that should have caused it, alignment is...
I bought the JSW TDI because I loved the JSW and the TDI was much better, IMO, than the 2.5. I would LOVE a VR6 JSW. If your a bean counter, there is no advantage dollar wise to the TDI. It will have higher resale that a gasser.
