New look for my 2002 VW Beetle TDI

I haven't had an issue so far with about 40,000 miles on this tune (knock on wood). I haven't done any internal work on the engine aside from them cam. Since there is too much torque to launch the car hard with any sanity I don't really attempt top 0-60 runs so maybe that has saved my axles...

New look for my 2002 VW Beetle TDI

Thanks! It's the GT500 Kit. It's by no means easy to install, and you can't reuse the front turn signals but it can come out looking pretty good.

    Post your TDI sightings here!!

White Golf TDI on Taconic in New York I was pretty excited to see another modded MK IV TDI on my commute into work today on the Taconic. I was driving my 2002 Red Beetle TDI and encountered a White Golf TDI. I'm curious what the mods were on the car. I know it was modded because we were both...

    GasPods

Hey Diesl, as long as you are willing to continue testing them then I'm happy with you doing just that.

coolant reservoir emptying through overflow outlet

Just an update that having the head gasket changed and ARP bolts put on cometely fixed my particular issue. It was definitely a head gasket problem as VeeDub and others suggested.

Hevster1 Grand reopening RE-OPENING NEW LOCATION! Montague NJ!

Thanks again Mike for completing yet another project on my Beetle. I haven't been able to test out the Wavetrac LSD fully but maybe I'll play with it tomorrow. The transmission is shifting smooth as ever though. I still have that squeal when engaging gears still so it must be the South Bend...

New look for my 2002 VW Beetle TDI

Thanks all :-) She is holding up very well so far although I've noticed a bit of a fuel economy dip due to the change in aerodynamics. Must be that big maw scooping in air.

New look for my 2002 VW Beetle TDI

Although having an awesome sleeper Beetle was fun, I decided to give her a new look. Sleeper no more!

    GasPods

Thanks for the analysis Diesl, I certainly couldn't do the same so now I'm certain I put my pods in good hands for analysis. One thing I wish I paid more attention to early on which frankly I wasn't even aware of at the time was how drastically head and tail winds can affect MPG. In hindsight...

    GasPods

For one that fails to consider other variables such as winter driving, I agree, they won't find anything valuable.

    GasPods

So I was able to calculate that I had about 3,600 miles before putting the GasPods on so I started tracking on fuelly when I had about 1,600 miles on the car.

    GasPods

My Golf fuelly page is still there, I just retired it, didn't remove it. It looks like I had about 3,000 miles or so on the car before I put the GasPods on, but I would have to gather some past info to know for sure. Before placing the GasPods on I'd get to about 49.5 MPG but just couldn't...

    GasPods

My personal experience with these resulted in breaking the 50 MPG barrier after using them. Previous to testing them I was tracking my mileage on Fuelly and attempting to hit 50 MPG with my 2012 Golf TDI. I was not able to accomplish this until using these. Now in my couple thousand miles of...

    "Gas Pods"

When I was testing on my Golf they were at the same depth as the antenna with the odd one an inch or two in front of the antenna. They were also not angled. I guess they can be tested in any configuration you'd like as long as the suggested configurations are tried out if it produces no or...

    "Gas Pods"

You are welcome Diesl. My VW Beetle is modded so much that it is impossible for me to maintain a conservative driving habit with it which makes me a very poor test case for this type of thing with my Beetle and I've since sold my Golf. I believe you will give them a fair shake.

Modded my ALH 2002 Golf TDI - 163 WHP :)

Yes, the clutch feels great and smooth and holds well even with my 300+ torque but that squeal is very annoying.

2002 VW Beetle TDI - Mustang Dyno Results

I didn't really participate much in the setup aside from providing the vehicle weight which was on my registration card and I confirmed with an online search. In the fall I plan on doing it again when it is a lot cooler. The fan was also blowing on the Intercooler side of my car and in hind...
