    Defective Mann Fuel Filters?

The filter just wasn't assembled correctly, therefore it was useless for my needs. The paper filter element was not seated down in the bottom of the metal canister and during final assembly, when they fastened the top onto the canister after inserting the filter media, the plate on the filter...

    Defective Mann Fuel Filters?

True, but I don't like the new design. I'll still use Mann filters, but if I ever have to order another fuel filter for an ALH, it will be Hensgt or Meyle. To each his own....

    Defective Mann Fuel Filters?

Sorry, but this particular filter would not have worked fine. The "plate" was also preventing the tee-fitting from being pressed down into its position. After cutting it apart, you could see that the filter was not assembled correctly. Not saying that all Mann filters are bad - they are...

    Defective Mann Fuel Filters?

To resurrect an old thread, I recently purchased a Mann fuel filter for my '03 Jetta TDI. As noted above, they definitely have changed the design and you can no longer see the filter material when looking down into the canister through the tee fitting. I have changed TDI fuel filters quite a...

'99 New Beetle rims and wheel covers

I am selling a set of 4 steel rims and OEM New Beetle wheel covers: 16" 5x100 bolt pattern in decent shape. The OEM wheel covers are in new condition. This set would be great to mount a set of 205/55-16 winters tires. $200+ shipping takes all or pick up with no shipping charge in Maryland...

    Boost is slow to build...

So 8 months later, now we have 0 boost. I bought a Mityvac and could not draw any vacuum on the tube connecting to the VNT actuator. The vanes move OK by hand, but with no vacuum, they won't open under load. The N75 cycles properly when in Basic Settings using VCDS channel 11. Putting a...

    Alh vnt turbo

All excellent info. I have an '03 Jetta TDI with no boost. I can draw no vacuum at all on the hose to the actuator with a Mityvac. I pulled the tube off the actuator, pinched the end and I draw vacuum, so I know the tube is good and like the example above, the actuator is bad, probably a...

    Boost is slow to build...

Yes, logging from start to almost redline. MAF is OK. Will have to check the duty cycle and will test the actuator... Let's see what happens.

    Boost is slow to build...

All: I have an '03 Jetta TDI with 140K miles. Prev Owner (PO) installed a new turbo right before I bought it. The first thing I noticed when driving it is a severe lack of acceleration. It's dead-dog slow starting out from a red light. I used to have a '99 New Beetle TDI and I remember the...

    Thanks and so long

Back from the dead.... Over.... I convinced my daughter's boyfriend to buy a 2003 Jetta TDI. Has new MAF, shocks, turbo, battery, glow plugs, harness, relay, alternator, headlight lenses, all fluids, new pads and rotors, all filters and an A/C relay. Runs good, just dog-slow off the line...

    Clear coat pealing

I have a red 04 Jetta with peeling clearcoat. I am going to clay it, then try to polish it down smooth with a DA polisher and some Adam's swirl and haze remover, then some fine machine polish and a sealer. Let's see if it works...

    Thanks and so long

Still spoiled with the GTI performance, fit and features. The new-to-me '98 Beetle is doing fine, no complaints. I've been hanging out on the Vortex and Mk6 forums lately, but I sure miss the camaraderie and friendliness of the TDIClub forum. This forum is a goldmine of information.

Timing Belt and Injector Pump Replacement

My IP was leaking on my '99 TDI Beetle and Matt at Euromotive Auto Service did the new seals and I was good as new. I see you're in Maryland, so if you're in the Harford County area, look them up.

    Thanks and so long

I've had the GTI for a while. Love the performance. Miss the fact that diesel fill-ups were every 10 days as opposed to every 5 days for premium in the GTI, but knowing that the power is there when you need it is worth it. Let's hope this '98 NB 2.0 I just picked up will have similar...

    Thanks and so long

Yes, it could be her hurt or dead rather than the car. Excellent point that is frequently on my mind through this ordeal. My deceased New Beetle was chipped too, but I went with the GTI because the performance of a tuned GTI is that much more incredible, diesel is more expensive than 93...
